Colonel Bogey performed by Brassman Bart

Today's video is Colonel Bogey, with all parts performed by Brassman Bart. Colonel Bogey was written in by Kenneth Alford in 1914 and has been performed in countless military parades and concerts, hometown band concerts, advertising jingles - Winners warm up with Malto-meal- and was used in the 1957 movie, Bridge over the River Kwai, where you hear a group of British prisoners of war in a Japanese war camp whistle this tune. This performance uses tuba, several euphonium tracks to cover trombone, cornet, and baritone lines, triangle, and cymbal. Hope you enjoy it. Brassman Bart

The FT Jackson band (282nd) played this as the reviewing march when I graduated from BCT in December 1977...a while ago. The story behind Ricketts use of a pseudonym was that Royal Marine officers at the time were expected to be men of independent means and were forbidden to have a second job. The reason why the march was whistled in the movie was that the wartime lyrics sung by the British were considered too rude to use in a 1957 film...

Kelly. Might have used a wedge on that performance. Use a smaller Kelly now.

Actually, the clear tuba mouthpiece is a no name I found on Ebay. The yellow mouthpiece in my most recent video is a Kellyberg. When playing euphonium, lately have been using a smaller Kelly. Look up Kelly mouthpieces; they are in Wisconsin. Thank you for asking. Brassman Bart.
