Thank you for sharing this with us! Looking at someone's collection who never labeled their peices, is rather frustrating. You have a great collection!!

Tim Traver the best place to get low grade Colonial era British coins is off of Ebay. They are listed in the colonial US section and UK halpenny section. Most low grade sell for 20.00 or less. They can also be found at local coin shows and shops but the usually want more money for them there.

Chris, is the someplace I could buy very low grade Colonial era British coins? I mean the ones no one wants. I give them to kids who visit my local history display. Could you steer me in the right direction? Thanks! Tim

Very impressive collection, Chris! Nice grade, color and surfaces. Hard to find that level of quality these days. Rarities, too - I'm particularly jealous of your Immune Columbia. Thank you for sharing.

Have a few really nice colonials also.. Don't have near as many as you have. I specialize in early type. Half cents through dollars.

I'm a newbie at this and but would like to get started collecting colonial era coins.from talking to a few people I understand that counterfeiting is a big problem . you suggest purchased coins from eBay. how would you know you're getting a good coin? Are there any safeguards precautions that can be taken.

+Nick Maggiore Hello Nick, The best way to start collecting colonials is to study first. There are some counterfeit coins on ebay but learning about them first is key. There are some early imitation half pennies that are quite valuable but again you should learn what to look for. Coin shows are also a good place to view or buy certified coins.

I have many other coins British, Canadian and a lot of American. But lately have trying to collect mostly colonial era coins. There is a lot of history in these coins. Thank you for your comment.
