I have just "discovered" your videos and it is bringing me such little smiles and joys. I lived in country on 35 wooded acres, surrounded by another 250 acres of private hunting land. From my hilltop home, I could see two farms with sheep, horses, cattle and alpacas grazing in the distance. IT WAS HEAVEN ON EARTH. My husband and I grew our own food, fished in nearby lakes and he hunted for most of our winter meat supply. I made curtains and dust ruffles, embroidered pillowcase for beds, stenciled walls and stocked my antique cupboards with special finds from farm sales, auctions and thrift stores. We had shell of home built, then completed our home inside, while living there. Recently, my husband passed and I was forced to sell our homestead. I mourned for my dear husband and also missed our quiet life together in the woods. So, your videos are my little refuge, a chance to remember my gardens, the simpler lifestyle and the times I loved so much nature around me. I do try to reintroduce many of my teatimes by the fireside, out on porch and remember old times, but still enrich my current daily life, as well. I bought an old home, have decorated it early american with touches of Irish cottage. Did this before finding your home videos! Love your creativity, history comments, your home and gardens and critters...and your lovely finds of teacups, antique kitchen tools and beautiful collections! (Some of my family suggested I should "get rid of clutter" which is what they called my treasures I have collected in last 35 years...I told them I would find a home that fit my collections and you can NEVER have too much china....I didnt know I was quoting Tasha Tudor until I heard you quote her in your tea about her life! Thank you for your gracious hospitality!

Jeri, thank you ever so much for bringing us along on this Colonial tea party...or should I say ceremony. Something about your incorporation of antiques, history, and story telling, makes it very honorable. You have such a refined aesthetic, that almost anything you present in your videos is elevated into a sensory experience. When it's touring your garden, I can almost feel the sunlight on my shoulders or early morning mist rising from the pathways. The barnyard sounds and your friendly conversational narration makes it feel like we're neighbors...and we share the same love for nature's gifts. Being invited to enjoy a cup of tea with you has been such a pleasurable treat today, and I just want you to know that I don't take it for granted. Again, thank you!!!!! Sharon

I had no idea that tea could be made from cacao hulls. Thank you for all the information. I was quite fortunate, some years back -- probably about 25 years ago, to find a copy of Tolley & Mead's Herbs at Half-Price Books in the clearance section for $1.00. It's sitting on a shelf some two feet away, along with my many other herb books. Now that this beautiful video is ended, I'm going to shut down my computer and read for a while.

I wondered if you have ever done research on what type of teaspoons were used by the colonists. I grew up with a British background and our teaspoons were tiny compared to American teaspoons. We each had a teaspoon that belonged to us. Each one had a different design at the top of the handle and that is how we knew what teaspoon belonged to who. Our tea cup and teaspoon would be set out for the whole day and we always knew whose was whose by the design on the teaspoon. I noticed you used what looked like a regular size American teaspoon today. I am just curious to know if the Colonists used a different kind of teaspoon. Thank you and I really enjoy all your videos. So lovely and calming. Also bring back memories from my childhood. God bless you!

What a quaint and lovely custom you had. My friends made much of the silverware and pewter used in the series "John Adams", and all the teaspoons were of normal size, in fact many were even larger. I have some of their spoons and use them on special occasions.

Jeri Landers of Hopalong Hollow Thank you so much for your reply. I’m really surprised they used such big sized spoons! Very interesting! My mother is actually from Holland and my Dad from England. Hi Jeri. Another great video. I was so excited this past week to find a 39 piece set of dishes very much like those you are using. They are mostly brown and white. The illustration is an english town with the focal point being a horse drawn hay wagon. I love them. On the back it says Yorkshire genuine hand engraved ironstone. Made in England. I was thrilled to be able to get them for only fifty dollars. Ironically there was no tea pot but I will be on the hunt. It was funny I asked the man to just set them in the truck bed to be safe. There was not a crack or chip. There is a picture of one on my Pinterest board called A Good Dish. Under Karen Insua. Thanks again for your lovely videos.

A lot of work but how satisfying. I assume it must be warm enough to plant. Here, in Colorado , weather is warn but you know how that goes. Warm one minute and a snow storm the next! Love your channel.

Yes, I do know Colorado, I grew up there. I just got lucky with a few warm days here in East Tennessee.

What a treat to see a new video waiting for me to watch. I put it on pause for a while, whilst I made myself a pot of tea, and then sat down for myhopalong hollow, Jeri fix. I feel so calm and relaxed now.... You are always a wonderful treat to listen to. The garden plans will look wonderful, I am sure. Many thanks once again 💕

I really enjoyed the history of the East India Tea company. I find it fascinating that you found the tea that was dumped into the bay. Everything is so unique an so impressive to me with your tea pots and cups and tea brands. Thanks for sharing this with us, I am glad to find new tea brands to try. This has given me incentive to have a tea party as well.

I was quite excited to find the historic teas in sets, specifically packed for the Boston Tea Party. And they are quite good!

This was such a lovely time. I use sugar because, living in louisiana there are many cane farmers and I like to support them. We also buy locally grown rice. I cant wait to show my granddaughters this video, they will love it. Liam's is a star isn't he?

@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow I share that trait. I would also have those dogs so spoiled they couldn't do their jobs, lol.

Actually, John Adams and Sam Adams were not brothers, they were second cousins. They shared a great-grandfather. Of course they were both important figures in the American Revolution. I enjoyed all the information about the tea company and the importance of tea in the life of the colonists and the British population. I do remember reading “Johnny Tremain” as a Jr. High student. I recalled reading when Johnny tried coffee for the first time, I believe in a tavern, he was surprised by the bitter taste despite coffee’s pleasing aroma. He also tried hot chocolate, which he liked. Thank for sharing this lovely video.

You are correct, I misspoke and clarified the relationship in the description. I love coffee, but hot chocolate is always best!
