12:57 Now that the Mennonites have created a very successful community in Friesland, perhaps they are consulting and helping others in Paraguay achieve the same success.

Thank you for this video, I have a question, why is German the main spoken language? if the initial founders immigrated from Russia, just curious why they did not speak Russian and spoke German instead. Thank you very much.

Because those whose were in Russia moved there from German, escaping persecution. Katherine, queen of Russia invited them to settle in Russia after a war with the turks. They wanted Christians occupying the land that they fought to move out the turks.

That is what hard work and believing in what you do, accomplish. We live around the old Amish in Canada, and had some friends. But now a lots of them moved to the states. Illinois. Nice video ,thank you very much.

I like this community and the way it’s build, as it looks it works locally and not global and that is how we should live together in this world

Because Russians never accepted foreigners. Nestor Makhno was a racist Russian responsible for a genocide. The Mennonites had to run for their lives to Canada to escape certain death
