Help to match up camera's, and get some nice colours! - looking forward on your review of this.

At 3:19 you show a list on the left (Gray, Exact, Color, Hue, Sat, Lum) that doesn't appear in the version of 3DL I bought this weekend.

You can do it by using "curve" matching method. Place the color grid over the color checker in the image and select the curve matching method. They just minimized all the steps into one click.

Is it necessary to have the x-rite colorchecker for this to work? What if I have a chart (or make one) that is not supported ?
@aaronperelmuter8433 Жыл бұрын
Of course it necessary. How could it possibly work with any other chart when the application would quite obviously have no clue whatsoever as to what colours are in your chart, let alone what the colours ideally should be. Did you actually watch the video? The whole thing is about correcting the colour cast and this is ONLY possible because 3D LUT Creator knows what the colours in a ColorChecker chart are supposed to look like. Otherwise, you might have fluorescent pink for the red patch, fluorescent green for the green patch, etc? You could have literally ANY colours you want in your own chart which you created but that’s completely pointless because the app wouldn’t know that you’re using your own, wacky version of a ColorChecker instead of the Xrite version, as per everyone else. Moreover, why would you ever even want to create your own ColorChecker chart? It’s been the reference standard for, maybe, 40 years or so now, do you not think there must be a very good reason for that? Does it not occur to you that for SO many photographers, worldwide to all use the same chart, over several decades, that just maybe there’s something worthwhile in the colours from said chart or perhaps the colour combinations from that chart? Just some food for thought is all.

@@aaronperelmuter8433no, the workflow shown here can actually be applied to some very effective color correction. As long as his chart has a decent amount of gray patches, he can match to any color from his chart as he wanted. It may not be as color accurate as using a color checker, but it would still be a lot better than the original.

I so much want and need this to work but I find it ludicrously difficult to fathom. I want to take an image of the colour checker chart and get this tool to give me a LUT to correct the image to the correct reference values for all patches. Can this not be automated - or made simpler. Or is there anywhere that explains this simple task more clearly?

Hello! Send me your footage and maybe I'll make a video with it, showing how to do that.

Hello! Thanks for the purchase! Now it is called Curves method matching, you can choose it in method drop down list and click match.
