Bored doesn’t describe my life these days. After 44 years in a sleepy conservative town, I moved 3 states away to DC. Today I went to a collage lecture and reception at the Phillips Museum and then spent the next hour exploring their traveling collage exhibition. After that we went to a nearby bookstore and spent an extra half hour trying to get home because, of course, I got lost. So, no I am not bored. However, there are days I long to be bored in a place I know where I am not constantly getting lost. LOL. Your page is beautiful, by the way. You have so much more talent than you give yourself credit for. I have totally enjoyed this series and admire the courage it takes to share your work the way you do. It is way easier to be a viewer than a content creator. My hat’s off to you!

Susan ....... you crack me up and really made me giggle. There was a time I was taking the train into NYC (2.5 hr trip one way) just to get my hair cut, go see a show, have lunch, etc. Well, those days are over. Some days I long for them back, but with the way things are, I'd never travel by myself to do such a thing. What's the old saying, "Tis Better to have traveled at a young age than to never have traveled at all" 🤣🤣🤣 the loved part I have down !!! The humdrum's can get to me but that's when I pull up my big girl pants and carry on !! I need more comments from you, you're talented in lifting someone's spirit. @@NellieandRuthDesigns Deal. Get out your phone and map and be prepared to guide me home. The first month I was here, I spent 2 hours looking for a drive through Chick Fil et. Down South all we had were drive throughs. I learned that up here they are almost all in buildings and it cost $20 to park. OMG was I not prepared for that. While in search of said Chick Fil et ( I wanted a diet lemonade) I drove by the Pentagon 3 times and no I was not admiring the architecture. I was totally lost. But the mule in me would not give up until I ended up on the wrong side of the River and got snarled up in traffic. The moral of the story - give up fast food. Up here inside the beltway it is just not happening! BTW I still haven’t figured out where “inside the beltway “ is but it seems I live there. As to traveling when you are young - that definitely has my vote! Thank goodness for my dad. He was tight with money but if it was “educational “ he would gladly pay. I saw most of Europe on his dime. One Shakespeare class was educational the rest of my travels hitch hiking (it was the early 70’s) in France, Italy, Switzerland and The Netherlands, well they were educational too!! Have a good day and better week. I will be watching for another video with excitement!

Barbie, so many things! First, you are never boring and I think you are fearless. Then, when you came back on camera with glue all over the place, I laughed out loud and said "Now you're crafting like me!" I make such a mess. I love your doodling. There is one thing that, after you added it, I couldn't see anything else, tho. I'm not going to say what it is. Can you figure it out? And finally, you mentioned Maine. That sounds wonderful! Our heat index today in NE Texas was 114!!🥵 We're frying down here! Hugs.

I'm sure you could fry an egg on your sidewalk with that kind of heat. My son was in Texas, (June) and he couldn't believe how hot it was. OMGosh, I do feel bad for all you Texan's ....... but that's what makes you tough and strong. Hi, Barbie! Love this one. Your choice of papers was great and I think your doodling looks wonderful, too. I, along with my grandson, Ethan, am babysitting three dogs while Jeff and Mary are in Portugal celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary! They will be home Friday and then on Sunday, Mary and their oldest son, Alex, will be going to the Cayman Islands for her annual work-related trip. As for me, I am just making cards and reading. Barbie, you really pulled this piece together so well,there is no right or wrong way to use mixed media in your collage art,just the way that works for you in that moment of creating. Adding the stencelling to the collage soup paper really elevated it,and white in a piece gives the eyes places to rest in a composition. I loved that you mosaiced the plant pot but in collage,and adding te posca pen doodles as you did tied the whole piece together, the yellow flower is both a sun and almost a halo for the bird.The colour cube journal is coming together so well visually and it's giving you a way to try new things which can only be a good thing.The seated impressonist looking lady gives the whole piece/spread a serenity.Don't be so hard on yourself,you are creating brilliant and inspiring pieces/videos for this jouranl and series,give yourself the credit for being bold and trying new things in this journal and in how you are creating each spread,it's going to be an amazing journal when it's completed.(Matt)P.s you speak about feelings you love being by the ocean in Maine,can relate,where I live here in the UK I live in a costal town what we call a 'seaside town' so I live by the ocean and love to walk on the beach and there is a definate feellig of calm and serenity walking by the ocean on a nice day. I love the colors! It turned out great! I got into mixed media art a few years ago. I use it in some of my collage work like you do. I find I like mixed media way better doing it that way. I also don't like messy just because my cat gets into everything and now I have a 6 month. And my art area is our coffee table (or floor) soooo it was always really difficult and takes up a lot of space.

We all have that piece of art that just doesn't quite work the way we want it to. Just the same, this piece is lovely just a bit louder than your usual style. I was yelling to put the lady in front of the pot or in the pot hugging the plant. Guess you didn't hear me 🤭 Don't beat yourself up. I enjoyed every minute of that video. Be well.

@@NellieandRuthDesigns Hahaha, even if it was a live show I may have not been there live as for time difference. Keep the bits you cut off closeby and in clear view so you see what you still have left from those images is my best tip as I do that too. I even leave some stuff on my workplace after I'm done and sometimes am able to use it in something else. Only when I go do something totally different I throw the leftovers in a small basket or glue them in a small deksjournal for leftover paint, papers, images etc.

@@NellieandRuthDesigns Same here. I see lots of ideas and often no idea where to begin myself. I have a few art journals to work in, but want to do 1 for just collage and I have no idea in which blank book I want to start, a large A4, or A5 or a composition book or maybe a square one...? That part is more difficult than just glue images down. Life is hard....🤣🤣🤣
