There could never be another David Jansen. What a professor. I happen to be a fanatic to the color wheel.....I’ve , yet, to see anyone explain the details in pigments and tertiary colors, as here. Talk about a winning video. The schools don’t really teach. But, quick to take your money. Thank you , for taking the time for this video. ❤️💯

I have learned so much from you already. I have had a color wheel forever. I understood some but now I am seeing so much more. I also had to quit oils and acrylics for years. Took up watercolors. I am doing much better and have been doing decorative painting for a few years again. But you are such a great teacher and I love the paints. 10 roses in but I know one day it will just make all the sense in the world to me. Rewatched them over and over. Starting to pick up on more and more. My brain is going past into oh I see. Now once my hand matches up I will be so happy. One day I will take some online classes also. Thank you

great explanation David, thank you. Been painting with chroma colors for years and you have made mixing more understandable. I have always used the numbers on the tubes to mix color, but I was going through my tubes to set up my cool colors and my warm colors to put them in my drawers that I keep them in and I was soo surprised by some of them being warm when I thought they were cool because well, its blue, it must be cool but it wasn't . As it was for a few reds and yellows. They too ended up in my cool drawer instead of being warm. So now I understand why. Thank you very much.

Yes they change the position of yellow. Covino liked it on top and he was a powerful colorist in the 70's. They also changed the definition of tertiary color. Now it doesn't make sense. Thanks!

Very interested because I want to be able to buy top shelf paints in terms of pigment loads and be able to make my own colors from just a few tubes then feeling like I can’t paint something because I don’t have the tubes of paint. To me, Those hundreds of tubes of paint sold are mostly convenience and so you don’t have to keep making up piles of paint. But if you are on a very limited budget but don’t want to mix mud with cheap paints and you want color fast, archival paints then we can do it by learning about the colors. Now that said… it’s boring as “he-double hockey sticks” or it is to me looking at charts. The charts give me the glazed over - deer in the headlights feeling. Seeing him mix the colors on the palette sticks with me more. Though I realize we need the charts going forward or we just spend the time mixing and practicing - but you still need the theory behind it or you aren’t really learning forward. Thank you.

18:40 Wondering? You are mixing two colors that already contain blue. #1 contains blue and red-violet (red/blue). #2 contains blue and green (blue/yellow). So you are not creating a blue from two colors? You're neutralizing the other colors except the blue? I.E. #1 blue-violet (blue/red) mixed with #2 blue-green - so the green and red are complimentary and neutralize each other leaving blue in their mixes as dominant? Is that what is happening? And that is why it is a muddy blue - the blue is now mixed with the neutralized green and red? Thank you Really enjoyed this video
