@@dolla3040 the World Cup is the most difficult trophy to win: the tournament happens only every 4 years and there's no best of 7. After the round robin, it's single-game elimination so the World Cup winning team literally has to be perfect. Stanley Cup is definitely very challenging but the winning team can get away with not playing their best in some games

​@@davided.2204 nope. the amount of games needed to win a cup and the physical toll those games take makes the Stanley Cup much harder. Also it being every four years just means the odds of winning less, but not harder to win. Teams are never perfect who win the world cup.

There's a reason why in the NHL a team like the Avs that was dead last in the regular season just a few years ago is now the Stanley cup champ. Underdogs never win the world cup in soccer. Unless you're a European country, Argentina, or Brazil, your country isn't winning a world cup in this lifetime nor in the next.

For the ones counting, this is the second time the Avs brought the Stanley Cup home on a trip from Florida. The first cup win in 1996 after the team moved from Quebec Canada to Colorado and became the Avs was from the Florida Panthers they swept them in 4 games. Game 4 of that series went into triple over time in Florida.

My younger brother is a huge Avs fan this made his whole year he's a great guy too the avalanche have been great to him when he was sick with cancer joe sakic came to the hospital and they would give him tickets on the ice. He is cancer free now but that was amazing thing for a sick kid.

What !?? No love for the former Canadians' player and cup winning goal scorer Arturi Lekhonen ?? What a masterful pickup by GM Joe Sakic; Arturi warrants accolades as I consider him the most hardworking all-around player in the last 3-4 yrs. Montreal lost a good one but he merits this cup win as his contributions were critical....check it out, he's on the score sheet at key times in crucial games, he is so polyvalent & dedicated to team concepts that he can be counted on to bring unending energy and game awareness to any coach's adapted game plan. Coach Bednard quickly learned that if you have the puck, Tampa can't win, so players like Arturi, Darren Helm, Newhook, Byram, Manson, O'Connor, Comphor, and other basic 3rd line & grinder players, when set up properly, would get the stars the puck. Didn't hurt that Arturi got them into the final & then gave them the winning edge. Kudos and congrats to the team but a special well done to Mr. Lekhonen, most deserving, even if not trumpeted as a hero. (he is, at least in my books) My 2 cents. {:>)

Yeah, having followed the NHL for 60+ yrs. now, I should have realized that referring to the Montreal franchise in any post, the proper spelling of the name is "Canadiens" but I was just so excited by my Finnish friend's wonderful achievements that I misled the readership .... my bad. He shows his " fighting side" by becoming a more dominant defensive force on the ice, but he has grappled with the " bruiser meatheads " trying to intimidate his teammates. It's not his style to back down from any challenge and his " situational game awareness " keeps him mostly out of the box and driving the opposition crazy. In his "Nordic tradition", he is a true warrior and now a Stanley Cup champ !! Well done Arturi !! My 2 cents. {: -))
