49 seconds in and I love it. His use of weathering is so accurate. So many people want to keep their stock looking like it just came out of the box and while 2 or 3 cars on a layout could look like they were just shopped that is not how real life units look. And I have worked some really dirty equipment (before AMTRAK I worked a live coal fired steam tourist line that was hand shoveled. I know dirt)

What an amazing and well engineered train layout!...Amazing scenery... Love the many trestles and tunnels, the trains are beautiful too! I've never owned a train set in 62 years, but; I've always admired those that devote a lifetime to them... I'm a philly native, in the 60's the local school would take us to Stroudsburg PA for Roadside America...It was so interesting to see the expansive layout... People's hobbies always amaze me...They show the diversity of human thought... I Went back to Roadside America, about 10 years ago...It was still the same but; it hadn't aged well...People just don't go places these days...: (...

I've been there as well as Miniture Wunderland in Germany. And while Miniture Wunderland is much larger, this one is far better with detail. The careful attention to detail made colorado museum way more enjoyable. The Germany one, while very cool, seemed gimmicky in ways. Anyway, Colorado Museum is well worth the visit or detour if you're in the area. Very nice staff....

I think they use a bunch of toxic stuff to simulate water. In fact much of the scenery is toxic stuff as well. It would be nice if someone did a more organic version, like ran it through a botanic Garden or something like that. But there is electricity involved so it would take some planning.

If I heard it correctly, the Defect Detector transmission (13:10) stated “No Defects” and the axle count was 203. This can’t be true. American railroading equipment have an EVEN number of axles on them. According to the Distributive Law of Mathematics, EVEN + EVEN = EVEN. If the detector report ends in an ODD number, there IS a defect... either dragging equipment being counted as an axle, or the detector equipment itself is faulty.

Fantastic layout, Michelle; how's that way cool, spiffy purse that turns into a backpack? I notice that the gentleman mentioned that track was cleaned every day; why? What cleaners, methods, etc. are being used? If you are using abrasives such as Brite Boy, you are making your problem worse. Also, certain cleaners (Water and alcohol are two examples.) promote oxidation which attract dirt. I can't go into detail here but I suggest that you go on KZbin and type in Ron's Trains N' Things. You may have to subscribe temporarily to access his playlist but under "Tips and Techniques" is a video called something like " I don't clean my track anymore.". I would suggest that you or someone else watch it. I am sure that you will find it interesting.

@maxwilm762 жыл бұрын
Just sub'ed, I've been looking into what it would take to do some 1/24th stuff... Cool thing I find about this scale is it seems like it would be easy to scale real word measurements with it, in the US at least. So here most real world track gauge is 4 foot 8 , 1/2 inch, so you can just divide by 2 and use 1in. = 1ft. So 4 Foot 8 and one half becomes 2' 4,1/4", use 1in. = 1ft. and you get 2 and 3/8 inches.
