Almost forgot the camera work. Perfect job. I agree about not having the music as a background. The realism of the video is only surpassed by the dedication to detail of the layout. Outstanding in every way. I'm stuck two miles from the Atlantic Ocean, and the closest train of any kind is ON MY MONITOR in front of me. Thank you all.

I must admit. As a lifelong, HO train hobbyist in my 66th year. That IS the most perfectly detailed layout I have ever seen. I always look for those little touches most people never see, or look for in a layout but..THIS is simply Breathtaking, Authentic, and as a railfan of the real thing. I can almost smell the Creosote in my mind's eye. If you are looking for the TOP AWARD. You have my vote. WELL DONE.

Thank you very much. I'm glad you liked the video. The lighting in the museum is very good. This helps with the depth of field. The other thing that helps is that the camera's auto focus works well. The camera is an intermediate consumer grade Sony HandyCam HDR-CX110. Of course the video would be worthless were it not for the museum itself. The layout is indeed amazing. If you get the chance go see it in person.

Sorry I don't much about how the water was done. I just shot and edited the video. Dave Trussell (designer and builder of the museum) did the water. He is planning a video featuring scenery techniques. It will probably be available from the museum gift shop, though I can't say exactly when.

The building is slightly pressurized which helps a little. Our routine calls for cleaning the water surface area twice a month. With a Q-tip. Hey, all good things require a little effort now and then. -DT.

Vidfreak727, It's not my layout, so I'm not responsible for the truck movement. The guys at the museum (GFSM) told me that the logging trucks use Faller's system of having the truck follow a wire that is concealed beneath the roadway. The trucks are powered by rechargeable batteries. The trucks were custom built for the museum.

I did not build the Faller car system shown in the video, but I believe that the logging trucks were built by one of the volunteers at the museum. If you will simply go to Google and type "Faller car system" in the search box, then click on the link to Faller's website, you will quickly have more knowledge about it than me. :-)

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!!! The realisim is one of the best I've seen. Are there any how-to videos describing or showing how the surrounding landscaping was done. The transition from actual trees to , I would guess, a backdrop or diarama is so wonderfully done as well as the towns and country sides. The mountains look so real without any traces of carved foam I can often detect in other similar videos. I would easily pay for a how it was done video or DVD on this. I am so impress

I have watched many of your videos since an article on the layout appeared in the 9/2015 edition of Railroad Model Craftsman. Most are of mainline freights and passenger trains running between Klamath Falls and Lakeview. This video differs from the others as it includes shots near the end of local yard and transfer jobs, street level scenes of downtown stores, and even a closeup of a fly fisherman in the river. These scenes bring out details of the layout not visible in the other videos. I would like to see more of these closeups in future videos. A video of local switching and transfer jobs would add new variety to the collection of videos of mainline trains currently on You Tube.
