Colorado National Monument is home for cool hikes and amazing views. It's located in western Colorado near the town of Grand Junction. Join a friend and I as we hike to Independence Rock. Afterwards we'll take in the rim overlooks that give spectacular views into the canyon. Visited on September 30, 2020.

My wife and I just got back from Grand Junction for a wedding and we were so incredibly impressed with the CNM! The scenery there is top notch! We also visited Arches National Park on the same trip and I think I enjoyed the CNM more than Arches. Also, Grand Junction is a fantastic place! So many nice people there and the downtown area is awesome!

I'm from the UK and my favourite places on earth are the US National Parks. There is a spiritual dimension there, in the vast skies, deserts and mountains, that I have not experienced anywhere else. I've a new baby and I don't know when I will get to return. Your videos stir those memories in me of that beauty and sustain me in these difficult times. God bless you and your lovely family Randy.

Randy, I was here last summer, and among other things, including spectacular scenery, I saw my first desert bighorn [@ 1:37 in video] (relative of Dall sheep, Stone sheep and Rocky Mtn. bighorn). Back in '84, on my way back from Alaska, I saw a small herd of Stone sheep in the middle of Glacier Pkwy. between Jasper and Banff in Alberta, Canada.

Once again, another great video! That extended selfie stick with the 360 degree camera is pretty slick. Really cool the shots it can give you near ledges but also keeping you at a safe enough distance. I am surprised I don’t hear about this park more, especially since it is so accessible being right off the interstate. Maybe that is lack of knowledge on my part but I rarely, if ever, hear or see it mentioned. Glad you survived that wild pack of cats. Funny stuff right there.

Just stunning! I loved the part when you were gazing at one of the vistas and all you can do is hold out your hands and shake your head. I'm sure the video doesn't do it justice. I hope to be there some day :) A top views video would be pretty amazing :) Now I've seen you do some amazing activities while on your adventures and there was amount when Carl said we're going to check out Independent spire that I though you guys were going to rock climb. Have you rock climbed before? If not would you? Seeing your reaction while on the ledge mat have hinted the answer but I was curious. At our school I taught kids "climbing" on a modest rock wall and high ropes course. The best part of all of it was witnessing the support of others in helping each other overcome fears. I witnessed so many powerful moments, tears of fear transformed into tears of joy and accomplishment

Hi! How far is The Grand Overview from the road or parking lot? In other words do u have to hike far to get to it? We'd love to pass through this park (that I never heard of til I watched this video) on our way to Utah from Grand Junction but would be on VERY limited time...

It's about 5 miles to the V. Center (from the West Entrance) and then another 2-3 to that overview. I'd suggest you drive the entire park road which will give you around 10 overlooks. Great way to see the park with limited time. You'll exit on the East Entrance - Grand Junction. Believe the whole road is 23 miles. Take care!

@@AmericasParks Yes, I have the pass however it is about to expire so just did not want to get caught without one if fee was required. Guess I can always purchase at the entrance gate if expired. Thanks again Randy enjoy your videos.
