I look forward to your series in the Colorado Trail next year. My friends and I did section 1-6 this year and being prepared for those pesky flies is a good idea. I ran across a man and his dog hiking the opposite direction and he was regretting not having any repellant especially for his dog. I gave him some of mine. You live in a beautiful part of the country. Best wishes as you & Oatmeal prep for your thru.
