Very true. And I just don't buy the "let nature take it's course" attitude as a reason why bears and other starving animals are not in any way helped to get food. “Trail” with pavement and yellow center line is a road. This bear is seriously going to kill someone. Normally black bears take off when encountering humans but this one is not afraid, which is not good. Are there any Missing 411 cases in that area?
@foxyandlucy63923 жыл бұрын
Trail with pavement and a yellow center line is exactly that....A TRAIL. That's how most city trails are in Canadian cities. They are built on old railway lines most times as well. That Trail is not big/wide enough for 2 vehicles. It's probably 10 to 12 feet wide. So I guess you're basing your comment on what you have known as trails in your area? Trail by definition is a mark or a series of signs or objects left behind by the passage of someone or something. So this does fit the bill. 🙂🙂

It was lucky to have run into an unprepared lady that had no idea how close to death she was! My wife and I were out SHOOTING muzzle loaders one fine spring day, a few years ago, when a 350 pound black bear appeared on the scene and if not for the fact that I knew what I was doing, was well armed and went for the bear as it was going for my wife (got to within 15 feet of her) as a MEAL! That bear had me advancing on it with a cocked .44 magnum full of BEAR LOADS ( I hunt bears!) and made a very wise decision and bounded away and out of sight before I had to kill it. Any bear that approaches a human in that fashion is looking to kill and eat. Only the bears youth and it's own confusion prevented that ladies death or extreme injury! Never run in bear country. It triggers the predatory instinct. Having said that, she did everything right. Standing her ground, yelling at the bear. Wouldn't try that with a grizzly bear, but with a black bear, good strategy.

Surely if running where bears are possible, it's logical you would at least carry bear spray?.

I had a black bear charge me in colorado. It was intense and scary. I shot it.

Running into places and then finding her way out is great for her. She was lucky this time. Running is good but common sense and caution are also important.

Running is never a good idea in bear country. It makes you look like prey, which triggers the bear’s predator mode.
@monicacarolina64803 жыл бұрын
exactly, it triggers their hunting instinct. Just as people on bikes. Just be aware of it, when you run. And....when you are running you are not capable of screening the area as when you alk. Just hike people, with good quality bearspray, make noice, sing songs, put small bells around your enkle and avoid dense areas where you have no overview. Grizzlies are not eager to meat humans.
@rosemiller6463 жыл бұрын
@@monicacarolina6480 Definitely agree with all your bear aware safety tips. And I don’t know if you meant to write it that way, but I also agree that bears don’t really want to 🥩 “meat” humans! Lol 😂 The bears have plenty of other types of meat in their regular & familiar diet.
