Too much water in mix will dissolve the adhesion of acrylics. Happened to one of my paintings. I paint in layers . On 6th layer the paint actually lifted off in areas right down to canvas. I had to start from beginning and repaint it. .I now mix mediums with the paint to thin it. I use a mixture of 60% Slow dry and 40% flow improver mediums. To the paint.
