Here's a flipside for your WIP folder! WIPs are half-finished projects. You know what that means? It means there's only half of it left to finish. And there is (for me at least) a greater joy in finally finishing an old WIP than finishing a new page I started 2 days ago, because there's a larger sense of accomplishment from finally crossing that initial hurdle that made you stop, and sometimes those are the *best* pages. Specially because sometimes the reason we abandoned it first was just because it was a bigger pie than we thought we could eat, and being able to finish it means we've grown enough to get through and finish. It also helps narrow that choice paralysis when you decide to tackle a WIP, and pull out that folder of WIPs to choose one to finish.

Wonderful video! I think the majority of us struggle with some, if not all, of these! This is why I don't do more buddy colors and color planning... i absolutely lose my coloring mojo as soon as i 'have' to do a page. analysis paralysis is real sometimes so I've been just working on whatever is calling to me. { this year has been almost a no buy except for Mythographic wild summer this last week, but I have so many fun things and I feel like i enjoyed myself just as much early on when I only had 2 coloring books as with 50 coloring books... i don't need more stuff LOL}

I truly enjoyed and appreciated this video and thank you for making it and sharing it. I can relate to so much of what you talked about. As a retired Graphic Artist, I tend to be VERY hard on myself when it comes to my coloring. I am constantly comparing myself to others, even though I only started seriously coloring a couple of years ago. So much unnecessary pressure we put on ourselves. It's crazy the things we do to make our lives tougher when coloring is supposed to make us relax! I especially agree with the segment about choices - I see so many You Tubers that have SO many supplies that they cannot possibly use them in a lifetime. It almost seems like an obsession... like they HAVE to keep buying more and more supplies and books to then show their hauls. I often wonder how and where they store so much "stuff!" That is the problem I see - it just gets a bit out of hand with some folks and turns into something other than just a fun hobby. But for the most part, I color because I love it. I loved coloring as a child, and now as an adult. I love experimenting with other mediums besides colored pencils as well. It is just so much fun, and if I mess up a page, I move on to another! I chalk it up to experience and hope to do better next time. (And TRY not to compare myself to all those incredible colorists out there!) 😁

I have so many friends where we chat about how we are stressing out so much with our coloring. I thought "wait a minute. we are doing this to ourselves! what the heck??" @@snickerdoodlingllc My pleasure... your video definitely made an impact on me. I also used to be a Reborn Doll Artist - I was VERY heavy into that "hobby" for quite some time, and I got very bogged down with the obsession. And then my mother passed away and things got much worse. I was trying to fill the hole in my heart made by her passing, so I kept buying more and more STUFF until the walls were about to burst! Thank God my hubby gently tried to let me know what was going on, although I couldn't see it until I was ready. When I actually DID see what was going on, I was horrified. I have since donated a ton of dolls and accessories to 2 nursing homes for their residents to love and enjoy. That made my heart burst with joy. It was just what I needed. I kept a couple of the dolls that I made and gave away others as gifts. It is always better to give than to receive... I try hard not to overindulge in this hobby of coloring, although with so many artists coming out with so many coloring books, it can be very hard. Plus who doesn't love variety?! Hahaha! But I thank you again, and I shall continue to enjoy your channel.

I don't get stressed out by these things, but they are things that put me off watching many colortube creators. I want to watch their content, but I cringe every time they say things like: "I can't start that page because I won't finish by the end of the month", "I want to color this page, but I have so many buddy colors that I won't get to it", "I want to color this page, but I don't know how to color X element on the page, so I can't color it yet", or the constant mention of words like "amazon paper, intimidating, good paper, I want to do it justice, I'm so busy". It really sets a negative tone for a lot of coloring plans or finished pages videos. I understand it's the pressure of having to keep up with creating content, but it can put people off from watching and be counterproductive. I just wanted to share my point of view as someone who colors for myself and don't share on social media at all.

I sooooo get wanting to selfishly color just for me and the sheer enjoyment of that. But then the guilt creeps in over ignoring my IG and FB audiences. Even here. In the beginning I tried to churn a lot of content, but have decided that for me, 1 video every two weeks is sustainable and something I can commit to. When I was doing more, it started to cut into my family time, etc. I had to put up that boundary there. You are SOOOO beloved on your channel and on IG! I will leave this comment first and then watch. I only started coloring in Feb. 2024. I love it. I color every day. I sandwich my coloring in between chores. I am 63, no small children anymore. I had to realize pretty quickly not to stress and color like anyone else. But I love tips and tricks and am catching on quickly how to improve my coloring. Having said that, I know my limits right now and go with the flow. I love to create and challenge myself to see what I can do. I always look forward to the next creation ! I always have something started. I color because I was a bit lonely even though I have a large family. I do a lot of hiking with hubby and am active with grandkids, but this is my own special hobby. I may never be a full fledge, perfect person who colors masterpieces, but i am also doing very well and feel satisfied. Coloring has only heightened my love of nature and I observe the colors in nature so much more. Sometimes a page I am coloring doesn't turn out well and I simply rip it up or tear it out of a book and start and next. Just like a writer does. 😊Thanks for letting me share my journey.
