I agree with you about the pencils. I have several sets of budget pencils and I don't really use them as I would rather use my prismas polys and lumies. So now instead of getting sucked in to another set of budget pencils I spend my money on getting open stock of artist pencils when I need to replace them. Great video!

I totally agree with you about these huge sets of budget pencil sets. I rather have less pencils but good quality pencils. I build my pencil collection slowly and only get the colors that I want and use.

I think i also would have problems picking the right color to even start coloring a page. When there are so many options to choose from😅🤗💕

You are so correct. Nothing like using a quality pencil. Also as you noted occasionally a pencil , like woomers and brutfuners come along and add a nice variety to your pencil choices. I also dislike the Amazon paper. I do buy an artist’s book that is on this cheap paper and scan and print the pages I want to color on a quality paper. That way I am supporting an artist I like and enjoying coloring. ❤

I'm with you I've got to the stage now where I don't feel I need any additional things. I have a few pencils sets - polys and Albrecht Durer, I absolutely love my arteza expert and colour with them a lot and I have brutfuner squares and black widows and I have worked out which paper I like to use each set on.

The one big thing I regret is getting my water-based markers, I am not enjoying them at all....another thing is distress ink....think one can buy cheaper ink pads that does the same for the little amount if times I have used them.....then I looooove my neocolor ii 's and so happy I invested in them. Thanks for your insightful videos.❤

I love the effect im able to get with the distress inks. But find mines very dry and need tons of layers dont know if other inks will have the same problem? Dont want to try out other brands because i have already invested in distress🙄 i think its lovely to have artsupplies that work great and you will use over and over again with lots of joy🤗💕

Waar ik helemaal niks mee heb, zijn de alcohol markers, simpelweg omdat ze zo doordrukken op de volgende pagina’s. Verder heb ik ook verschillende potloden sets, maar ik kom toch altijd weer terug bij de Polychromos, Prisma’s en Derwent. Heb wel sinds een aantal weken aquarelverf en de neocolors 2 opnieuw ontdekt en die gebruik ik voornamelijk als basis laag. Maar voordat ik wat nieuws koop, bekijk ik veel filmpjes op KZbin en dan beslis ik of ik iets wel of niet koop. In feite ben ik altijd “late to the party” en ook niet meer gefixeerd op het “full set syndrome”. Heb ook lang getwijfeld over het boek van Wildflower Folk, maar ben blij dat ik het gekocht heb, het is een prachtig boek.

Wildflower folk is inderdaad een prachtig boek 🥰 soms is het juist goed om langer over iets na te denken waardoor je er later extra blij mee kunt zijn. ( kleine spoiler) ik heb recent de inktense blocks toegevoegd aan mn collectie. Al sinds 2017 twijfelde ik daarover maar nú ontzettend blij mee🤗💕

I didn't get the big sets of pencils either. After trying a few of the budget brands I have decided I won't be getting budget pencils anymore. I am going to use up what I have and then purchase only good quality pencils. I just don't enjoy the budget brands. I did buy oil pastels but I didn't realize at the time it was a hyped product. I have had so much fun with them I don't use my hands on them and I like to really build them up rather than blend them out. I finish the picture with a art sealer spray. I love looking at them and feeling amazed with myself for how good they look to me.

Ik begrijp je helemaal met de markers, het gevoel is echt niet fijn en drukken meestal door. Ik heb wel de matchstick mouse collectie, het papier is inderdaad niet fijn maar met prismacolor goed te doen en zelfs aantal lagen. Vind de afbeeldingen gewoon te schattig en fijn voor een snel tussendoor ontspan moment. De neocolor 2 gebruik ik ook steeds meer maar heb nu voor kerst de paul rubens meiliang 48set gevraagd. Ik heb een boek van beatrix potter en wil daar echt met aquarel verf experimenteren. Bedankt voor de video 😁

I agree with you absolutely about the books with awful paper. I would love to have some of them but I don’t enjoy coloring on them. I just use pencils so maybe that’s the problem I think they use markers on them. I don’t like markers much either but there are so many supplies there is something for all of us.

I think you are right i see a lot of colorists using marker on the cheaper paper. Im a pencil girl so its not for me, and thats oke. We have plenty of options in other books to color🤗💕

I coming to your point of view now. I’ve only been coloring for a couple of years now and feel like I don’t need any more pencils. I do try to use my budget pencils in conjunction with my more expensive ones and enjoy them a lot. I’m getting the neocolors 2s for Christmas , so lm excited about that. Same with coloring books, no new ones for a while. Alcohol markers just look flat to me, I know you can shade with pencils, but just not my cup of tea.

About the matchstick mouse, I recently found a solution. Morgan O Brian has a Kofi where we can purchase the digital versions of the books. Then I can print them on the paper of my choice and happily colour my matchstick mouse 🙂

I made the promis to myself not to buy pdf’s and dont start printing coloring pages… that would be the start of a new problem 😂🤭 i can imagine my laptop overflow of pdf book etc. 🙄🥰💕

A very timely video, this subject has been on my mind and I was thinking about addressing it in a video 😊 I’ve been buying some books lately that I love the art work but the format and paper is terrible, and it has me questioning my buying habits again. I’ve been working at becoming more minimalist in the rest of my life over several years and I’ve slowed down buying art materials but books have been a weak point still. Thank you... I'm guilry of jumping on any pencil hype lol but agree, I have so many I don't use as I prefer my artist brands. I also buy too many books. I don't mind the Amazon paper and buy the books if I like the artist's art but wish we had a better quality paper. I used to subscribe to Colouring Heaven magazine but found I didn't like all the artwork. Loved the original paper but they changed it to cheaper one and I don't like it. Moral, use what you have and wait until you need to replace items... don't jump on every vandwagon like me lol😂❤

Ik ben het helemaal eens met de de hype van budget potloden enz. Ik heb geen KZbin kanaal dusik hoef niets te laten zien en ik krijg ook vaak de indruk dat de KZbinrs verslaafd zijn aan aan het kopen van supplies en kleurboeken want men koopt alles wat los en vast zit. Ik heb wel wat alcohol markers maar bebruik ze niet veel en ik heb ook wat aqua markets maar dis zijn een miskoop. Het wordt altijd streperig en vlekkerig. Heel lelijk. Ik heb 1 boek van Kameliya Angelkova, de tekeningen zijn leuk maar het papier is verschriklkelijk. Zal nooit meer een boek kopen met Amazon papier. Ik doe verder nooit mee met van van hype dan ook.

Het gevoel van iets nieuws kopen is natuurlijk ook wel erg fijn, heel recent heb ik de inktense blocks toegevoegd aan mn collectie ( spoiler) die had ik al op het oog sinds 2017, na de aankoop heeft de set eerst een paar dagen ongeopend op mn bureau gelegen omdat ik nog even wilde genieten van het gevoel van dit nieuwe product… heb je al eens geprobeerd wat aquamarker op een pallet te kleuren en te gebruiken als aquarell verf. Dus oppakken met een kwast? Daardoor krijg je een mooi egaal effect. 🤗💕
