I love your pictures. They are always so beautiful and dramatic. I have another suggestion for backgrounds. I'm working on a portrait in Seasons and I used a quick coloring of Colour soft, mixing up shades of blue and not even burnishing. Then I went over it with a Q-tip dipped in Gamsol and quickly had a lovely background of Madonna blue. Colour soft cover very quickly, easier than prismas. I hate water mediums that crinkle paper and this method leaves paper in original condition. 😊

You grumble about some of your pictures but in my opinion, they are fabulous. The only Hanna book I have is Forest Kingdom, so maybe we can try one in that. If you have to leave a picture to get to the shelter I would rather laugh with you later about your efforts to correct it. Take care my friend.

Your pictures looks amazing. I love Hanna’s art she is one of my favorites but i have Gibbs Smith edition and i noticed when i try any wet materials paper started to have black dots 😢. I am just started coloring about a few month ago and i don’t know how to solve that problem because i see everyone use water colors in her books and it looks amazing but i don’t get same results.

I put fixative spray on my pictures, so, the colors dont transfer to the other page.

Beautiful pages. I always adore your backgrounds. May I ask which medium you use to prep the page before you use the wet-in-wet technique? TYSMFS

Thank you! I never use any preparation.... couple of times I tried clear gesso and was very unhappy with the results. So now, if paper allows to use watercolor paints or pencils, I simply color without any preliminary steps

@ Oh wauw and you have no bleed through? I used watercolor paint 1 time on a page (on the Dutch edition) and I had some bad bleed through so I don’t wanna use it anymore. Now I use neocolor II’s instead but the effect isn’t the same.

@@bubbleofcoloring I used watercolor paints in Swedish, USA and Dutch editions, and Dutch was the best! Thick amazing paper. On the second place - paper in old Swedish books like Dagdrommar or Magical dawn. Worst paper is in the new series of Witches cottage, Masquerade, Forest and so on... but even there I almost don't have problems with bleeding trough, only with quick absorption of pigment.

@ I am going to watch some of your tutorials to see how much water you are using. Maybe I did something wrong. Not an expert on paints so it’s probably my technique. Thanks for sharing.

Alena, your work is absolutely Amazing, such great talent! Hanna Karlzon is my favorite artist and I have colored in her books but they're a pale comparison to yours, I only started coloring about 6 months ago and am sometimes discouraged when I see other peoples beautiful work, how long have you been doing this? I especially love your unique and exquisite backgrounds, you are a true artist!❤
