If ever there was an unassailable advert for buying Hanna's books, this video is it! Even your early efforts before you expanded your colouring materials would make most people proud, but I think you have become the Queen of the Backgrounds!

You have done some beautiful coloring. Your using mix medium s have encouraged me to do the same. You really shown that Hanna Karlzon’s books can take a lot : colored pencils, watercolor pencils , gel pens, but most of all acrylic paints and pastels. You have brought the pages to life. I enjoyed watching and listening to your choices of mediums. I haven’t used acrylics nor watercolor especially because I didn’t want to mess up the pages. I can see that the paper quality is excellent. Thank you so much for sharing.

These are my favorite books, and I am very thankful that you share your background techniques with us. You have inspired me to use my watercolors in my books too. I got myself a set of 36 White Nights and I love them, so thanks for that recommendation as well. Love your videos, and another thank you for Mermaids in Paradise. Coloring with Alena I always call pastels chalk for some reason. I also , only once have tried the Neo colors, I have a small set. I messed up a little with that median but will try again.

I wanted to tell you that I watched this video last night before bed and this morning I got out Summer Nights and all my watercolor pencils and Faber Castell watercolor crayons and just started working. If I think about it too much then I get nervous so I'm just experimenting and enjoying the process. Thank you for the inspiration!!

Alena, you are the undisputed Queen of backgrounds. No one is coming close to what you are doing. Your colourings are always lovely, but these days your backgrounds are stunning. That crab picture... How did you do that? It looks like you were applying paint with screwed up rag or plastic bag to get that texture you have there. Your books are beautiful. You are very talented.

Thank you! Don't worry I also started from soft pastel backgrounds and only with time I found courage to start playing and experimenting with watercolors. So choose a picture you don't like too much, LOL, and start experimenting with watercolors!

Christina I did such video kzbin.info/www/bejne/raikoKCpeshmmKs Most important things: set iron on medium settings, protect your page with clear sheet of office paper, iron only when paper is dried completely! - it's important to prevent wrinkles, and iron page in short movements: iron one time, make a break for a minute and let paper cool, iron once more. In this way you won't burn your page. Hope it was helpful!
