She is so GORGEOUS....audrey hepburn is unforgettable

The studio wanted to make this in color, but it was expensive filming on location in Rome, so they filmed it in black and white. It's really cool seeing what it could have looked like

Audrey's beauty in this film and the sets needed a colour version! The result is outstandingly remarkable! Never knew the sets were so elaborate and had to be to parallel the vast exterior scenes on-location in Rome.
@javiermorales61742 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree less. B/W cinematography has it's own beauty and technique. Of course the original movie was bw because at early 50s color was comparatively more expensive, and probably the makers would have preferred afording it. But that's not the point: once you have made the decission or monochrome, every shot, light angle, composition of shadow takes it into account. Terrible result if you just colorize a posteriori. I'm getting old. Some years ago many people shared this point. Now you youngsters look at me as I'm just out of tech progress. ;)

Imagine if the biggest thing you had to deal with in life is a misplaced shoe. Audrey Hepburn is lovely in color and black and white.

I'm not sure that's accurate, especially if you've watched this clip to the end. Being a royal has it's privileges to be sure. But there's a reason the saying, "Heavy is the head that wears the crown," continues to this day. Leadership is a Huge and often inescapable burden. Think about another similar scene of King Arthur in Camelot singing, "What do the simple folk do?" The grass is always greener... We envy them their money, power, and position; and they envy us our freedom, individuality, and simple happinesses.
@drmantistobboggangonzodr39613 жыл бұрын
@@LA_HA Not to mention being married off to secure diplomatic relations as a princess, lol. However I do think she wouldn't be able to relate at all to her subjects, the starving peasants. Insterestingly enough, both kings and peasants both suffered from stuff like lice and syphilis. We are lucky to have the medical care we do, even the poor, although in many places the poor do not have access to it or it will bankrupt them today in our so-called enlightened, hygenic time. So there are pros and cons with anything, of course.
@LA_HA3 жыл бұрын
@@drmantistobboggangonzodr3961 That's true. But, it seems to me that if you live in a country that has good healthcare -- even if it's very expensive, there is still very little gratitude for that because it's not free. It seems like the more we have in First World countries, the less we're satisfied with what we have because we're too busy ignoring our blessings instead of counting them. We have a nasty habit of not being grateful for anything because it's never enough. Like how we villify the wealthy and business owners. It's as though the work of bettering ourselves step by step is outdated. Now, someone else should do our work for us, make us more comfortable, and give us more because we want it, not because we've earned it. I feel sorry that we've come to this way of being.
@princevesperal3 жыл бұрын
@@drmantistobboggangonzodr3961 Indeed, even a modest apartment today is orders of magnitude more comfortable than a royal palace a thousand years ago. The heating, the clean water on-demand, toilets, hot baths, appliances that cook our food, wash or dishes, wash our clothes, listening to any music at will... Achieving anything similar in the Middle-Ages would require a lot of servants. You want to listen to some music at 2 a.m. to help you sleep? Better wake-up your private orchestra, Majesty! And that's too say nothing of vaccines, antibiotics, television, the Internet, smartphones, airplane travels, etc.

There is an argument that Audrey could also speak German - from this clip you can hear a couple of words - There is another video I've seen with her speaking a few more as well - Makes sense based on where she grew up :) I suspect she knew a few words but perhaps could not speak it fluently - Anyway she was know to speak 6, one can argue 7
