@Elijah no the dmg over time effect does way more dmg to enemies with more health in my experience I used the wa on placi twice and it did almost half his health on ng+10 im not saying black blade is the better weapon im saying that the wa has a better dmg over time than the black flame along with that flat 10% debuff it can also work in tandem with the incant for a instant 20% health debuff

It doesn't quite scale with Strength, but the Demi-Human Queen's Staff does very well up to like 40 Int, so it works well for Str-Int builds that aren't too big on Int. Besides, Cold affinity does still scale with Int. (It's much more important IMO to have a seal that scales with Dex so Lightning damage can finally make sense.)

I'd like to mention that Zweihander's chagre R2 is a thrust attack which can be boosted by the Spear talisman. You'll see a MASSIVE 1,5x damage increase if you hit your enemy just in time. Paired with RKR ash of war, charged attack tear and talisman it makes your charged R2s absolutely devastating! I'm not speaking about extremely low stat requirements so even dexterity build could use it. That's why Zweihander is definately the best colossal sword in ER.

This is by far the best series on the channel. I don't really care about the order of the next weapon types, but I'd love to see the same style of videos for shield types, staves, and seals. Don’t let the holy damage scare you away from the weapon, destined death does insane hp% damage to late game bosses regardless. I absolutely shat on Malenia with it because the ash also stuns her as it hits and then knocks her down when it finishes. It’s also devastating against Elden Beasts massive health bar. The only downside to really consider is that your basic attacks won’t be as strong, but as long as you spam destined death (like you should) you’ll never even notice enemies with holy resistance.

it's basically if the weapon has more than one stat with decent scaling. so most weapons that are tri scaling will be good for NG+. Weapons that have good scaling for 2 attributes will also be good for NG+.

@@raho500 stat requirements shouldn’t even be a consideration in NG+. Weight becomes less and less important as you go through NG+ cycles due to having more points to put in Endurance. Range isn’t any more important in NG+ than it is in NG. It really comes down to “how much damage can I get out of scaling on this weapon” or “how fast can I proc status effects”.

I'd like to see a video on flails or hammers (or both); something that does primarily strike damage. They're an underused weapon type, and between both classes there are quite a few options. Dual-wielding hammers is pretty fun and has a cool standard L1 move set. Other than those, I'd also like to see a video on spears and/or great spears for block counter builds.

The only issue I have with current generation colossal swords. Is that there is no (apart from Godslayer, and Starscourge.) alternate move set. I think, what would’ve been cool is to have the vertical overhead swings return. Or, a way to “swap” the move sets in the round table. Other than that, Zweihander is absolutely THE best colossal. Hands down.

the incant black flame also goes insanely hard late ng+. Fire giant, funny enough, is super weak to it because of his giant hp pool. I was at 40 something faith and could do 5k damage off of three uncharged casts with duel wield godslayer seals

Great sword is so much fun and can be buffed. It can be used immediately if you have a bleed weapon and a golden fowl foot. It's in a carriage that's on the way to the 99k rune dragon (with the foot). Good weapon to try for all players, since your swings are so slow you have to learn to be selective with attacks, no button mashing. This also forces you to dodge which is for some reason much easier using this style. 5th playthrough and it's the most fun so far, got to morgot without having to use any summons and I'm not very good at the game.

I think it's a shame that the troll knight's sword is essentially the same as the troll's golden sword. Since it's a spell the troll knights actually use I think it would be cool if the troll knight sword came with greatblade phalanx built into it, it would make sense as an ash of war and it would really make the weapon really stand out since glintblade phalanx an ash of war that can't naturally be put on colossal swords

Beat every single boss with the Grafted Great sword first play through. The goal of my build was to make myself more a boss than the actual bosses - hits extremely hard, extremely tanky but doesn’t avoid a lot of attacks. What you need is a very heavy and strong armor. Against most bosses you will have to tank hits from time to time as the animation of each of your attacks is just that long. Also you are wasting a shit tone of endurance every hit and weight a lot. You will need to get a lot of endurance otherwise you are never getting more than 2 hits in a row because your endurance will just be spent. Used talismans for raw stats - Endurance, Vitality and Radagon’s soreseal. The last talisman I switched around depending on what I judged most useful at the time. Had 70 strength, 40 endurance, 50 vitality, 25 dexterity when I completed the game. The weapon also scales with dexterity a bit. Kept other stats at the minimum. You will never have any trouble with non Boss enemies excluding the knights with horned helmets. You are just staggering everything to death. Most enemies won’t get to move before they die. Weapon art is awesome and obviously easy to use - you just gain stats and you can truly stack a lot of raw stats with the weapon art + Godrick’s rune even early on. Levelling priority was Strenght -> Vigor -> Endurance -> I levelled dexterity only at the end of the game as I did not know what to put points in and it was giving my weapon more damage than strength was at this point. For my physick I used the one that increases stamina + the one that makes rolling smoother.

Very simply, use a medium shield with carian retaliation or golden retaliation to parry. Small shields are worse in every way but weight.For staggering, use a short sword with face off or any heavy weapon to deal poise damage, switch to misericorde dagger for crit. Daggers can't stagger anything with it's ashes of war after flame of the redmanes was nerfed, unless you use ground slam, which is still worse than switching. Powerstance daggers are terrible with anything but bleed, and are the worst fast weapon for bleed. Without flinch and stagger damage, with low damage, low status build up, and bad ashes, daggers' only advantage is a short attack animation.

Some weeks ago I finished my pure strenght run with only the greatsword and I was surprised how easy I came through, since I usually prefer magic and a bit distance. This thing cleaves through enemys like butter. Only Malenia and the Eldenbeast were really difficult but I beat them in the end.

The great sword does extremely well on a blood infusion as well. High AR plus around 160 bleed damage. It'll bleed in 2 hits on most enemies. Use giants hunt ash and it's absolutely dumb how fast you take down everything.

What I’ve found works best for the Godslayer’s Greatsword is keeping a second weapon in another main hand slot with the Glintblade Phalanx skill on it. This allows you to quickly break the enemy’s poise in 2-3 casts and then switch to the greatsword skill with a longer window to use its ash of war. Using Phalanx to poise break instead of jump or heavy attacks also leaves you with plenty of stamina to pull off the initial and followup strikes of the black flame skill.

You should definitely not build strength with the godslayers greatsword, it is a dex faith weapon, which is ideal for spell casting, because you do about the same damage 1 handed vs 2 handed and dex also boosts your cast speed

This is a great idea, definitely going to try it. I was also thinking it might be fun to make a build that leans into the black blade lore and uses the black knife in the offhand for a faster weapon skill when you don't want to go all out with Destined Death. The requirements for the dagger will already be met in order to wield the Black Blade, and the faith scaling for the L2 should benefit some from the higher requirements for the Black Blade.

Speeding directly to the Greatsword, rushing up the stats with Radagon‘s Soreseal has made for the most enjoyably easy time in the early to mid game since I dropped a Black Knight weapon for the first time.

Dex build with 23 strength and 60 dex will see better performance going lightning on zweihander and most especially the Greatsword in PvP when two handed in PvP, and will better than strength builds who go heavy and 2 hand at 53+ strength at 150 meta levels, due to lightning defence and lightning negation is low. When you two hand a colossal all their motion values for say r1 become 114, and 105 for godslayer. Same applies for colossal weapons where it becomes 114. Godslayer because of its swings has the faster acting hyper armour of all weapons. Oath of vengeance on grafted blade greatsword grants 5 seconds of the buffed endure effect, while endure ash of war is 3 seconds.

Godslayer's Greatsword does not share the deafault attack animation of other colossal swords. Most of the swords are almost dragged from ground to ground while Godslayer's attacks are performed after raising up the weapon.

Love colossal swords! I play a strength build, and I am adding faith in NG+. Colossal swords are slow, but deal good damage. A jumping strong attack or a light attack triplet can finish most field enemies. Sprint light attack is also great. The goal is to always overwhelm the enemy until their poise breaks, so you won’t get hit much.
