I am also a winter (true winter), and I used to wear a lot of light, warm colours like cream and beige. After my online color analysis with Alessandra I realised what they do to my appearance and I didn't wear them anymore. Now I started a project - I am dying some of them in the washing machine! I turn my former beige neutral pieces into navy neutral pieces. I give pale green sweaters a beautiful emerald colour. I use berry tones as well. It's as if I had new clothes without buying any, and I love to wear them now!

I have been holding a few warm-toned pieces to do the same and have been too chicken to try. I've got a couple of flamingo pinks I want to turn into a deeper magenta and some spring purples into bluer purples. I'm glad to hear you've had success with it. I might summon my courage and give it a go now!

@@LeighMerrydayPorch but be careful, the usual colours only work with natural fibers. And sometimes the seams are synthetic and don't take on the colour. On suitable materials I found it was easy and gave good results!

I personally appreciated how you added details on why a color works or doesn't work across possible sister seasons in this video. It felt different than last videos for me. Your details on the nature of lilac being more close to winter and the extra coolness of the summer pink were great to hear in context. You might be surprised how many people respond quite well to bold colour choices (they hesitate for themselves but enjoy seeing it during gloomy weather). Melbourne is a diverse community. The first versions of Colour Me Beautiful (from the 1980s) were a very white affair (some people still think that Colour Analysis is not inclusive, because of those beginnings - I disagree. It is just a method to train the eye and to find the commonalities of what looks good). What I observed as a (simplified) guideline: The more melanin in the skin the less important undertone (warm or cool) becomes and the more important it is to find the right intensity. Have you seen the analysis of the fairly dark model Nel or Mel. She is a bright winter, but also looks spectacular in bright orange (from the neighbouring subgroup of bright spring).

This is Melbourne ;) Not very likely she would have such a client who would also volunteer to be shown. Even the few Australians with a Scandinavian immigration background are going to have a light tan. These presentations help you to train your eye - do you need warm or cool undertones ? With a fair skinned persons this is usually more important. For persons of colour getting intensitiy right is usually more important than cool / warm undertone). And whether you can wear spectacular colours or whether you need them to be a bit muted. Do you deal well with high contrast and also do you NEED high contrast (to gain visual interest). I am fair skinned although not as fair as you - but still learned a lot from their analysis with Nel or Mel the dark skinned model.

Try the denim test. the lighter blue tunes. If denim looks very good on you you are most likely a summer (blue = cool and denim has this muted / softer quality, it is not a uniform colour, there is the blue and the lighter coloured thread).
@franziskani8 ай бұрын
Also: a lot of summer types can borrow from winter, (or one of the subgroups) especially if they have a summer tan. Most caucasians are cool types and among those most end up as a summer type. They need the cool toned colours (the fair skin makes certain pigments more visible) AND they they need low to mid intensity = summer. So winter (with the strong contrasts) is too strong. At least in general. I am a summer type (cool summer most likely ) but interestingly I can borrow _some_ colours from winter (especially when I put some effort into hair and wear at least minimal make-up.). Also: A summer tan can allow you to pull off some colours well (it adds intensity to the face so you can deal with "stronger" colours / contrast). Also: I can BORROW visual interest from the intensity of some cool / deep winter colours. (the natural contrast in my features and hair / iris colour is low, and my skin has a greyish undertone). All forms of petrol / teal / turquoise look good (seems to neutralize the greyish hue in my skin tone the best). "Bright" jewel tones are too much, it looks like the garment is wearing me. Black is too heavy - except with a wide neckline, a summer tan / or make-up and styling with scarves etc. Deep jewel tones look very good: Forest green - a deep dark green with blue undertones. Deep violett (bordering on dark blue even). A dark pink - but it has to be the right shade. Not fuchsia, more like orchid. And some forms of dark red / wine red - but it has to be the perfect shade: Dark but not too dark. And definitely cool (so with bluish undertones). And navy - but not dark blue (which is still better than black though). The right Navy for me has more blue in it and is just brighter. Hard to get that specific shade.
@libera71618 ай бұрын
I look very good with denim (jeans style) but also pink colors suit me well (cool pink of course better than warmer pinks) I am Caucasian and mexican (indigenous), so you would actually assume that I must be a winter because of my dark eyes and hair but my eyes and hair are not black they are darkbrown or blackbrown and in summer my skin becomes darker and my hair lighter which gives me really low contrast. But than again in winter it's different I tested myself and I looked best with winter cool, but in real life (I tested myself with an App) I actually prefer summer cool or even summer bright and spring bright colors (a bright salmon looks actually good on me and so does a bright beige) I would love to get tested by a professional but I would prefer a personal analysis but I don't trust every color analyst to be really that good If I were in Australia I would go to them 😅 @@franziskani

After being told that I'm a True Winter, which I couldn't deny at all, the question on how to still wear mostly light colours while still looking nice is just hovering in my mind all the time. Icy lilac is my favorite up to now. I don't mix the top colours with other winter colours at all, and it still works perfectly. I have seen soft winters, soft springs and light autumn pallettes, these are so unique and solve the problem of these people who didn't feel like they belong to their season. Thank you so much for the light colours tip: whereas I don't mind wearing colourful scarves or blazers over light tops, I still struggle in the summertime, cause I want to wear thin and natural fabrics in light colours so that it doesn't keep the warmth within the fabric... I stick to light taupe and lilac for linen dresses. I wear lilac shoes with a navy dress or deep amethyst with lilac and this always gets me compliments. I also like icy purple in patterns with an indigo background. This video explains why black and navy are almost equally good on me. I also like chartreuse green on me so the sister season might be the explanation.

In summer you can have a wider / deeper neckline - so the area next to your face is not a "wrong" colour. I find that I can pull off colours in summer that I would not wear in winter - because of the light tan, but also because the garments and their colour end closer to the face in winter. Even a colourful pendant or a bold lipstick (in a perfect shade and undertone) can add the right pop of colour - and else you can wear a neutral or light coloured garment. And there is always bright white (assuming that you are a cool type, else it would be cream or a very light nude).

btw even shiny versus matte fabric (of the main garment) can make a difference.

@@franziskaniActually I almost never tan (light peachy ashy veil if so, not the peach&cream of spring nor the golden hues of autumn) and my ashy dark brown hair softens during summer, so I can't rely on tan to keep my contrast in palette and add lighter tones. I borrow some deep and light soft summer colours instead. I might be soft cool and deep in the tonal system, which doesn't exist in some 16 seasons systems (deep summer/soft winter but deep winter if we stick to 12 seasons system). The point is: I might be in between summer and winter for depht and in between autumn and winter for temperature because cool summer is way too light and muted for me but cool winter can be a bit too harsh and too cool. My colours are best if you tone down the brightness by adding black, which is what makes it dark. During spring, autumn and winter, the lighter I can go is some universal medium colours such as emerald/jade green, lime, watermelon red, reddish purple. Wearing the "wrong colours" with open necklines doesn't work except for my shoes (i really don't care about my feet cause it's always red with chronic circulatory issues). For the other parts, I can notice the greenish cast coming from my hands/arms/legs all day long (I would put the right shades of lipstick or nailpolish to compensate but it wasn't enough for my body and I kept noticing that green cast). Fake tan is ugly on me, it dulls everything. Staying in palette and adapting it when my hair softens is the best I can do. Exceptions are made for shoes, bags and belts

How interesting your videos guys! Very helpful tips also for wearing colours out of the palette or different in intensity! I am learning so much! I had a blast after your online analysis, now I am more confident about the colours that I want to wear and I can step outside with a new energy! I am decluttering my wardrobe and my shopping will be more focus and seamless! Thank you so much for sharing bits of your work and for sharing the joy of your clients!

This has been so helpful for me as i can’t decide if i am a winter or autumn deep. I believe undertones are more neutral. So good to know i can borrow from each. I would love to know which is my dominant.

Hi Color Analysis Studio! I've been watching your vidoes for quite a while and enjoying them so much. Thank you for your efforts bringing color analysis closer to us 💗 I suggest you reconsider this analysis result. I don't see her glowing at all. Rather, her beautiful colors are repressed. In my humble opinion, light spring colors suit her best.

It was interesting how her eyebrows came out more in the dark winter frame, after the bright winter. I was wondering if the beautiful shape of her eyebrows contributes to her season

Love your channel! Especially because of your warmth and kindness in combination with your skill - i usually trust your verdict even if I'm not seeing it right away, its not like that for me in other colour analysis channels 😂 It seems you're spending quite some time cutting the videos, that's making me curious about what you're cutting out - would that be parts that you think are confusing, or rather repetitive? Either way, it really feels like you're dedicated to bring your message across and share your expertise with the world, like true teachers :)

By any chance can you analyse someone who has pale olive undertone? I don't look best in black and terrible in white + cool colors look a bit off on me and also my muddy , more yellow so im thinking i could be olive🤷🏻

I thought black (and white) only looked best on cool winters?? Did I misunderstand?

Thanks for these wonderful and so helpful color analysis. I only wish in this video that the client wasn't wearing any lip color as it's distracting. But in any case, these sessions are gems.

Navy and dark greens look best on her imo.

Why is the cool winter the softest? I figured deep would be because closest to the softer autumn season.

If a summer of winter type wears brown at all, the shade of brown shown here 18:23 would be one of the options. Brown is a warm colour but there are more or less warm versions. This is one of the cooler versions of brown. And some versions of taupe or greige. If the same tone of brown is picked up in tweed (which is always softer, because of the mele effect and the lighter threads, and also because it is a matte fabric not a shiny one ) it can be a good colour for summer types. (tweed with orange, beige or light green "sprinkles" would not do). This is important because costumes and suits are offered in tweed - so more choice.
