Wonderful! And especially helpful, the complete list of needed supplies. I like to gather every thing I need, so when I start, I am ready to go. I also spend a lot of time in doctor’s offices. I can so easily pick up my supplies and go. People are always interested in what I am doing, so I have gotten many interested in coloring and met some very nice people.

So glad that the list of supplies helps you to gather your supplies to colour out and about. And it is amazing to hear that you have inspired people to colour too....that is so wonderful to hear!! 🤗💗

I agree that yellows are hard. I struggled for years with how to color yellows. Recently i have been using terracotta or burnt carmine in the shadow area. Game changer for sure

Agreed!! I think that’s what I did on this page, and you are right, it really did help 🤗💗

I totally agree that the blending tools make using soft pastels a lot better! And I'm the same way with backgrounds! I usually like to do the background first, especially in the Mythographic books because it helps me to see what's what. You did a beautiful job as always! Thank you for sharing!❤😊
@shelscolouringjourney5 ай бұрын
Yup! Same here…for Mythographics I definitely do backgrounds first too. Glad you liked the page, thanks for stopping by 🤗💗

I learned how to use my Polychromos by following color along videos! And over time I have figured out my own style. I definitely recommend following color along videos! I think it's a very good way to learn!🥰

@@florence-1991 Yea I love her channel too! I think each person has their own style so there's something we can learn from everyone, which is great! When I first got my Polychromos it was very hard for me to use them properly because I was so used to using Prismas so I remember the first color along I ever followed was by Lucy from Lucy Just Adds Colour and it was a page in Melpomeni Chatzipanagiotou book and it really helped me a lot! We're blessed to have so many amazing colorists on youtube to learn from!

Hi Shelly 😁 I'm like 6min into the vid and I NEED to know how do you clean the blending tools for the soft pastels? I NEED to order some now! I'm fairly new, and I've used my messy soft pastels twice for backgrounds, and loved it! Let me go watch the rest of the vid 😜

Hello! So glad you like using soft pastels….they give such a nice result. So I bought the blending tools and they came with quite a few of the sponge heads included. So what I have decided to do is keep a sponge for each colour family, so I don’t need to worry about cleaning them (not sure it will be easy to clean them and they will likely get ruined quicker). So I will keep a sponge for yellows, a different one for greens etc. Hope this helps? 🤗💗

@shelscolouringjourney that sounds like a good plan, thanks 😊 🌸

This is beautiful, I really enjoy your videos. Can I ask which blending tools you have for the soft pastels? Ive had the same experience with the cotton application and am interested in trying these.

Thank you so much, so glad you like my page. I can’t seem to put a link but if you put this into Amazon’s search, you should find the pros if I got and lots of other options: TSHAOUN 4 PCS Sketch Wiper, Paper Art Blenders Sketch, Sketch Wiper Set with 40 Sponge Heads Hope this helps 🤗💗

That page turned out stunning! Do you always use a spray fixative after colouring with pastels? I have acute chemical sensitivities so this has always put me off using pastels.
@shelscolouringjourney5 ай бұрын
I tend to always use a fixative to be honest….even if I haven’t used soft pastel. So I am not sure….but soft pastel will transfer if not fixed. I have heard applying water over top can ‘fix’ it too. But I haven’t tried this myself yet. Sorry 💗
@raggedblossom5085 ай бұрын
@shelscolouringjourney Thank you. Shelly. ❤️ The answer is probably keep a sheet of paper between pages.

At the end of the pastel work, was that large white object you were passing over the image some type of vacuum?
@shelscolouringjourney5 ай бұрын
Yes. It is a mini desk vacuum which is great for tidying your desk after a colouring session, and definitely helps after soft pastel work!! 🤗💗
