I am so happy this tutorial is here. I have just bought A Good Drying Day and the Watering Can and now feel brave enough to paint the linen. Thank you for the little note inside that directed me to the blog, which led me here.

Nicki, thank you for such a relaxing and encouraging tutorial 😊 I really like that you’re not been overly precious about embroidery - that it’s meant to be relaxing, fun, and doesn’t have to be perfect!

Well, that was just fun! I messed up my first attempt at adding watercolor, but it still turned out fine in my eyes. This has given me loads more ideas and tips to do a much better job next time. Seeing that harbor scene up close convinced me to purchase it (and a couple other things as well). Thank you!

Thanks for this Nicki, it was very informative and interesting. I only joined for a short time on the ‘live’ as I was at work, so lovely to catch up this evening. I’ve ordered the lighthouse so excited to see how you did this! Thank you 🌸💖

Absolutely love this. I’m itching to get my water colors out and make the little charts... and, of course, work on the kits that require a bit of painting. I have a set of Windsor Newton watercolors that will be a good starting place. Thank you so much for this great content!!!

Is there a special process to fix the watercolor paint so it doesn't fade or run due to humidity?
@thestitchery3889

Press with a hot dry iron to set the paint. If you are concerned about fading I recommend using high quality paints or fabric paint x

Hi Nicki, I bought a set of Inktence pencils yesterday and coloured some calico with them and wet the fabric afterwards. I was surprised you left them dry? They really come ‘alive’ with water, on calico they didn’t bleed at all. Thanks for great video 🙂

Moira White Thank you! I like to activate them on paper first so that I can control the colour - it bleeds a lot on linen 💕

Activating them with Aloe gel or fabric medium instead of water stops the bleeding

Great tutorial Nicki. Trying out my watercolour pencils and its not as scary as I thought ! Can I ask about the paper or is it card you were using as I'd like to get some to do some test colours as you suggested. Many thanks Mandy @ Popsydoodle Designs

If you like the colour on your pallet let it dry after doing main picture then go in with a very dry brush to fill in edges, less spread of colour.
