Honestly, I think people are scared of dark shadows just because there's not enough tiny fluffy brushes around or in beginners brush sets. I love dark shadows and the second I got tinier brushes it changes the game for me.

My skin is like ghostly white and transparent, so I'm not a huge fan of darker eyeshadows (because I really don't need that extra impact, 99% of the time)... But omg, yes. Small brushes make all of the difference! I've just started to realise that I have nowhere near as many great, natural fibred, tiny detailer brushes as I need. And I've started using some of my larger eye brushes as highlighter and contour brushes, because they're just too too big for anything beyond a fully monochromatic eye look, which is something I just don't really do, anymore. Eg: Wayne Goss #3. A lot of the NYX eye brushes sold maybe around 4 years ago, etc. I just got the #13 from rephr, and it is so perfect and tiny. I definitely want the #14, next. But, beyond those, I don't see many good, tiny eye brushes. 😣 We need more! I bought both sets, this Oct / Nov, and the #12 and #13. Rephr is now the brand that has created my largest and smallest natural-haired brushes. 😅 The new anniversary powder brush is MASSIVE! Super easy to press in, first, to set, and then brush over to even out the coverage and remove any excess.

Tiny fluffy brushes are amazing for people with hoods or smaller eyes in general, too! And detail blending. ANY RECS ARE WELCOME hit me with 'em, the only good ones I have are a few tiny ones from a bh set I scavenged

Funny you say, I have upwards 50 brushes but I don't have any small eye brushes. I have some smallER brushes, but not a group specifically I'd consider small JUST for eyes. Kind of weird I never noticed it until now. Guess I gotta buy some Nabla.

As to Colourpop, in 2020 they may have issues getting the ingredients they need, so perhaps that is why their formula seems different

I have only bought one palette from them this year-the Baroque 9 pan- and it is amazing. Probably the best palette from them that I own. It would be sad if they can’t get the ingredients they need to keep a consistent formula. Especially because they are capable of making a great formula!

If they are struggling getting ingredients, and since they are able to make their products in their own lab, then they shouldn't be pushing out so many products. They should delay some of the releases so they can be good quality.

I used to buy a lot of their palettes but the mini cool taupe one just went on terribly, it didn't feel like Colourpop at all? Patchy and giant fallout. I love the shades though.

It’s definitely split because this has become a lot of people’s holy grail cool toned shadows and others say they don’t like this palette at all , so I think it’s going to come down to personal preference. You always always make the look stunning no matter how much you dislike the products that’s talent. Xoxo

@@AngelicaNyqvist I read that the entire world is having a massive SAND shortage that is affecting everything from makeup & buildings to windows/glass, etc.. Desert sand can't be used.. it has to be sand formed with water (like beaches) You can Google this!! It is very interesting but concerning at the same time. It is definitely effecting the makeup industry! (someone posted about this regarding issues on another brand that made me go read more)

Mind the last palette I bought from them was the good sport palette 🙂 & some singles , I also got da coco & get crackin' ,the shimmer was stiff, compact & satin like ( because of the nation the color I didn't mind specially because it's close to my skin tone it'd be lovely & natural on the eyes ) but still I was concerned about their formula & the glimmer factor! I'm hesitant to get the baroque palette now , although it's much darker & I think they could be better payoff ! I read in the comments : maybe colourpop are having a hard time getting their ingredients! For that I would say : they shouldn't be making new products with less quality & they should have restocked what they can restock !!! It's bitter for me to see them like this !_!

as a black person, i want to fight colourpop so bad. i'm furious. they launch so much stuff, too much, and then don't restock something as simple as the medium-deep pressed powder, make the majority of their melanin friendly palettes limited edition, AND have stopped being innovative? don't get me started on the holiday sets. pick a struggle, colorbland.

I agree!! Colourpop struggles to balance new releases & restocks. Their entire website was almost completely sold out for MONTHS but they had the energy to release three new palettes a week. Make it make sense 🙄

They also seem to discontinue a lot of palettes. Like a good chunk of their 2018 palettes are no longer available. I guess their mindset is to keep in stock the stuff are interested in, which is the new releases, but they don't realize how isolating it is for so many customers.

Amen! And They are becoming an epitome of throw away fashion. New in stock and ‘old’ out of stock. To me it just looks like a rolling quick cash grab every month rather than ‘innovative at an affordable price’. I have moved on to indie brands, POC owned because they are melanin friendly, Sydney Grace being an exception. I buy a few singles and pay shipping (cheaper than CPs free shipping cap) and feel better

My favorites are either NYX born to glow or just a foundation in a lighter shade, they are usually lighter in texture and might not need to be set :)

Do you always set it? I've found out not setting right up under my eyes with powder looks way better. I just tap out the creases in 5 minutes after applying and it sets like that all day. Also hydrating formulas like the bare minerals serum concealer etc might be good for you.xx

A hydrating formula, very thin. Tap it out. Then spray a hydrating setting spray on back of your hand, tap your finger in it, then tap it onto your skin, again, thin layer. Do not drench the undereye. Then I use my blow dryer, the cold air setting and blow dry it for about 30 seconds. I am almost 40 with dry skin. And before I saw this trick, I never understood why concealer didnt work for me.

I highly recommend checking her out, she reviews basically everything that comes out (and is the person i trust most about it) and has a lot of cool stuff on her site, like a huge database of dupes, foundation shade finders, constant updates on sales, colourstory ideas... i check her site before buying anything

I feel the same as you regarding this palette, its not as pigmented, creamy and overall great as other shadows. I feel the formula they used for Stone cold fox is dry and quite powdery, many of the shades also will muddy up because they’re so dry/close enough shade. I still love the palette, but its not as easy to work with with as my other Colourpop palettes. Whenever I use this I use as little shadows as I can so that way they don’t get too dusty and fall on my face.

I haven't been this excited to theorycraft lore and nerdy stuff in so long. Plus working from home gives me a chance to enjoy this stuff more and surround myself with people (online) with similar interests. I'm HERE FOR IT. Colourpop formula: I agree. I think it changed around the Sailor Moon Palette. I got it, and was very disappointed in it. The formula went from easy to blend and apply to A LOT of pick up and messy. Different.

Yeah my Sailor Moon palette has a lot of kickup as well. I find I need to spray or use glitter glue for a good result with the shimmers too. It's workable and I still enjoy it but not the same as my Blue Moon which I got before that one!

Respectfully disagree about the formula for CP, I actually find the new mega palette to have very creamy shades that make it extremely difficult to blend but I do agree that the older palettes were better in regards to performance. Also, I looked at the ingredients in the “at forest sight” palette and CP labeled it as vegan when the shades contain Carmine, which is a dye made from crushed bugs so I am really disappointed with that incorrect marketing. Your final look is stunning though, not what you usually go for but it looks great, especially love the lip combo ☺️💖

So many people rave about CP and their products that to complain about mismarketed products would be like a pin in a haystack. They still haven’t responded to my email which is discouraging so I’ll be double-checking the ingredients in their products before purchasing going forward

YES! I noticed the same thing with the newer colourpop palettes. The bare necessities palette is the same exact way, as is the going coconuts and a few others. You had me at hello is my favorite palette and the shadows were thicker and more substantial. They immediately adhered to my drier eyes and yet were still easy to blend.

I 100% think that they have changed their formula. I used to be obsessed with their shadows but now every time I try to use a newer palette from them I get so freaking mad trying to blend and work with their mattes

I was soooo excited to finally see some cool toned palettes coming out, and bought the Colourpop palette. I agree that something is different with it, and it's not as good quality as they used to have. I still love it, and will keep using it, but I'm glad I didn't pay a ton of money for it.

Angie, what a beautiful look. I wanted the Stoned Cold Fox palette because I love cool tones! However, it’s been sold out for over a month. I also felt like the formula in the pastel palettes wasnt the best... The mattes were very powdery, but I also thought it was because the colors were so light

I have seen many people commenting about Colourpop lowering their quality and other have said the shadows dry very quickly so maybe things did change. I loved the look you created and I loved the lip combo. I am intrigued by the lip liner as I’m a medium skin shade so maybe that shade can work for me.

1. That hairband(?) is hands down the cutest accessory I’ve seen in literal years. Never expected to be obsessed with something to get unruly hai out of my face, but here we are. 2. It never ceases to amaze me that people actively strive for fuller brows now; mine, while being lifelong tribute to Frida Kahlo, were routinely called out to me as such when I was growing up, so embarrassing that I legitimately have anxiety about them. The number of estheticians that said “oh, girl, why are you in a ‘Who Wore It Better?’ contest with Sam the Eagle of the Muppets.” stands at mortifying. You pull them off beautifully, but then again, I’m pretty sure you could make a paper bag look effortlessly stunning, which would be super annoying if you weren’t such a delight. 😉 3. I know it’s tantamount to sacrilege, but I’ve never been able to make ColourPop work well for me. At first I thought it was lack of technique amid my newbie status to the beauty game, but I work with Chantecaille/Tom Ford/Natasha Denona on the regular without issue. But I’ve tried four of their palettes, with and without various primers, with different brushes, and different prayers to the universe/deities trying to make them work, and they just don’t. Thankfully, I have a dear friend who loves the brand, so at least they’re being used. Obviously, I’m in the minority being unimpressed, and I hope for everyone else’s sake that any reformulation was out of necessity - thanks again for everything, 2020! - and not a conscious decision on CP’s part. 4. I’m slightly alarmed at how excited I am for your vlogmas? For all the crap that’s gone down this year, finding your channel in the last few months has honestly been one of the highlights. Thanks Angie. I enjoyed the video but I’m disappointed that the Colourpop formula has degraded. I just bought my first palette from them and I’m waiting for the Stone Cold Fox to arrive. It’s hard to find good cool toned palettes so I made the leap. Fingers crossed it’ll work for me if I avoid the black.
