I use the cheaper basic brands. Use colours that are similar, they don't have to be exact. Its good to experiment and practice. Good luck!

When I paint with acrylic, the color is bold and it covers the black lines of the eyes, etc. What can I do to prevent this happening?

You can thin the colour down slightly with water, or I would just paint back over the black lines. Good luck!
