When I was a child during the late 60’s / early 70’s my father would come home from a late shift and usually he would switch on the creature feature, I would always slip out of bed and curl up on the couch with him to watch. Most people would gasp at letting a young child watch horror movies, but to this very day horror movies mean comfort and love to me. I’ve seen every one of these movies and absolutely loved your review! Thank you for all the hard work you put into this.

The page with ghouliana depicting Poltergeist, the other side is also characters from Poltergeist. The lady is the medium and the guy is the bad spirit who wanted the little girl.

Thank you for this wonderful review. You did an excelent research! I can’t wait to have this book! I loved that Alan put the Evil Dead and Amityville Horror, my all time favorite horror movies. The couple on the page next to Poltergeist is from the same picture, Mrs. Tangine looks very alike. I would love to see classic famous movies transformed into Alan’s horror drawings... like the Wizard of Oz, The Joker, Gone with the Wind, Labyrinth and so many others.

Phenomenal review! I totally got all your references as I am also a huge horror fan. I also wanted to say how much I appreciate the time you took to do the trivia. I knew some of these trivia facts, but learned something new about several of the films. I have to agree, this is his best work yet! I'm a huge HItchcock fan and was thrilled to see the Psycho and Birds page. And like you, I was elated to see The Shining, which is one of my all time favorite horror films. And that Dracula lineup page! Yes, that is Christopher Lee, which I am a huge fan of. So happy he included him in this book! I just received my copy yesterday and flipped through it several times, can't decide what page to do first. You picture looks amazing! I love the Chrome effect on the axe, and thank you again for the demo link you provided earlier in the group. I noticed there was no ending poem as he usually includes. I surely hope there will be another book? I am in agreement on a 2nd version of this movie book. I would love to see it, so many more horror movies I would love for him to depict! Thanks for posting this. I knew most of them but not all of them. Thanks for showing the movie references. It really helped. Also 21:43 I think those are still characters from the poltergeist. The woman looks like the psychic from the movie. There are two or three movies in the series. In the last movie, there is this evil man who is trying to kidnap or take over the little girl. I think that is him in the American gothic coloring page.

LOL, your humour and love of horror films made this flick through thoroughly enjoyable. its a toss up between these and the mythogorias or maybe just succumb to the want monster and get both! Although it was a bit jarring as have a phobia of dolls so a real test of triggers here, Some of the films have never seen as cant do paranormal but love the slasher stuff. thanks again.

18:01 The American remake of the Japanese Ringu was good. I grew up with it, but I was shocked to find out it was a remake of a Japanese film in recent years. I've come to prefer the 1998 Japanese Ringu. In Japan, there are three movies in the Ring series. Instead of following Samara, they follow Sadako. Actually, it makes me a little mad how many Japanese movies America remade Ringu, Juon/ The Grudge, One Missed Call, Dark Waters, and so on. It's debatable whether or not the hunger games is a remake of Battle Royale. It came before the Hunger Games. They even remade the Korean film the tale of two sisters into uninvited. Ps, I'm a big fan of Asian horror. All in all, I prefer the Ringu with Sadako over the Ring with Samara.

I just got mine, I love it. You were wondering about a couple pics... The man eating the brain goes with the Chainsaw Massacre and the Werewolf of London, the werewolf shooting is from David's dreams in the movie. You were so well informed on almost all so I figured I'd tell you the rest. I ordered extra red gel pens too so I'm ready for the gore.

Not quite done watching but I’m very much enjoying the review so far. I knew yours would be the best review when it came to this book. I thought the one double page spread with Ghouliana’s decapitated head was from Hereditary but I thought I was wrong bc it’s a newer movie. Glad to have you confirm my assumption lol. By the way, don’t know if you’ve seen it yet but I personally liked Pet Sematary 2 better than the first one. Also LOVE the Goosebumps idea! I can just imagine one of Ghouliana’s little friends dressed as Slappy or something like that lol.

Hi 🙋‍♀️ I just love your voice and your videos really are SO succinct. Anyway, like you, I love horror as well. But (and I'm sorry it's not exactly a comment regarding the book - although I did watch all that too and think I want to get one! Most of the other horror coloring books have been pretty crap quality. But yeah, so I'm having a problem with a graveyard scene (I'm a beginner and using atm color pencils) in that I have no idea how to colour/draw mist (I'm not up to doing my own drawings yet). Hi Melinda, I would maybe try some watered down white acrylic paint, sort of brushed hapazardly over the page to indicate mist. I should do a tutorial for that really xx

I do have some (I bought a little set aaaaages ago) I DID buy the Neocolor stuff after you showed how to do that Nebula background - cos that was AWESOME. So I guess I could try that? I'm one of these people who is afraid to try something I haven't studied a gazillion hours for before using because well, I'm a total dick/idiot. I know intellectually that with Art you just have to "go for it" and be brave, but I come from a science/maths house/upbringing. I guess I can always try it on a crap half finished/never gonna be finished one? But you are... fearless! Thank you for replying 🦄💖

I'm certainly not fearless and I worry about "messing up" all the time, so I know where you're coming from! Yes, give white Neocolor a go with a bit of water. You can scribble it onto something non-porous and use paintbrush + water to pick it up like paint xx

@@ColourwithClaire I've found it, the image is the psychic lady and a guy called Reverend Henry Kane from the second Poltergeist film. I've only seen the first one which would explain why I didn't know who it was. And so then Alan has drawn the image up in the style of American Gothic 😊

I know there is meant to be a character 'ghouliana' than runs through the books, but I am a bit disappointed that the same face to colour popped up over and over again on nearly every page. This book would have been perfect otherwise and I think the pictures are great enough without the repetitive mascot. Am I the only one who thinks this?? Also, love love the goosebumps idea !!!
