I've just recently discovered viola da gamba music and I'm enthraled. I've heard at least a half dozen gambists perform this piece on you-tube and this may well be the best. So smooth and clear and delicate. I'm no conneseur and barely a diletante but even I can tell that this is a wonderful performance by a true artist.

Exactly right! It's not merely technical excellence, but her ability to shape each note and phrase to convey the emotions of the piece -- love, longing, sadness and regret -- that make this so beautiful and moving a performance. Never have I heard another version of _Love's Farewell_ that can approach this.

Tengo tres días escuchando tu hermosa versión. Intento aprender a tocar viola con una de un amigo luthiere que me prestó pero en Venezuela es imposible tener un maestro que te enseñe, así que voy viendo y tomando lo que puedo! Tengo un grupo, Cumbé y Zarambeque con mi esposa a la que le construí un violín barroco y otros amigos, uno de ellos musicólogo que toca vihuelas y guitarras, una cantante y un percusionista. Éxito

There are no lyrics as far as I know; this is simply an early baroque solo piece for viola da gamba.
