As old as the design is it is still a beautiful weapon. The fact that the 1911 is still popular 100+ years after it was introduced proves it has stood the test of time very well.

The only one that I found was a 1985 vintage stainless mark 4 that was in less than good condition and a full size colt custom competition limited ss which was well above my price range $2300 plus. While pondering ways to get $2500 together being retired I found a springfield range officer target government that I ended up purchasing two days ago. It shoots as well as my Remington R1 ss or sig stx. Very happy with it, maybe a colt will be in my future someday if one becomes available for a fair price during these freedom losing times.

I had a brand one of these that I had just bought in 2023. I took it to the range on a couple of occasions and as much as I want to love this weapon I couldn't love it. It was a beautiful weapon and a weapon with a lot of history behind it. And I'm not a Colt-hater as I have an Anaconda and Python that I really like. I liked my Browning High Power and Taurus PT 92 a lot better than the 1911. I know this posting is sacrilege, but this is just my honest feeling. I think my issue may have been with the grip safety, getting it to work and aim at the same time for accuracy. I just couldn't get my timing down, even after several trips to the range. So, in all fairness, my issue is probably with me, not the weapon.

Colt needs to produce the 1837 Paterson revolver again. Like the 1911, it was an Army sidearm which was later replaced by more modern arms. Give the Paterson a fine finish, add nicely checkered grips, and it is sure to win the hearts of obsolete weapons fan, just as the 9111 continues to do. Despite it generally clunky appearance, as well as the equally clunky feel, and other short comings the 1911 has a strong cult-like following. Perhaps Colt could score that way with the Patterson revolver.
