It was bad enough here this morning that I decided to call in for a vacation day. Decided to stay home out of the snow and upload a couple of videos. :)

It's still a beauty, nice piece of history, even if its well worn. Those old Colts had a certain elegance with that double bubble trigger guard and no shroud. Is this revolver the same frame size as a Python? The frame looks very similar in size.
@1957Shep10 жыл бұрын
Built on the same frame as the Python and Trooper.

The shape that one is in they sell for excellent around in some of these stores. They go by the born on date and say for its age it's in excellent shape. My looking at it in the video looks 76 around to me. For its age of course. Hope you liked the gun artwork. I will do another one too. Thanks as always

Something that I didn`t say in the video is that I believe the gun is not original. The blueing on the frame and barrel do not quite match. Don`t think it`s a refinish. Looks more like the barrel has been replaced with a later 1930s barrel?

1957Shep Thanks for the reply. I got to shoot my 45lc this last week but only 30 rounds. I am working on a forcing cone cleaning method similar to dental flossing but uitilizing flitz and string thing. The concept is pretty easy. Take some string, put some flitz on it and run it back and forth around the forcing cone area. The fun part here for me is designing a rig to hold the string so you can finger the jig instead of the string ends.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the finish. It's old, it's been used for its intended purpose. I despise "safe queens".

Right, guns are tools meant to be used. Unless it's something uber rare take it out and get it dirty, man.

The Official Police revolvers in 38 Special and 22LR are not that hard to find. The 32-20 is a lot more rare.
@JoseRamos-qy3dv4 жыл бұрын
what is the price of that gun???

Don`t know what they sell for these days. Check the gunbroker auctions and see what they have been selling for lately.

The .32-20 version of the Official Police was made only during 1927-42. Yours looks like serial number 471491 (or 471493 - I can't quite make it out.) Mine's has a lower serial number. I can't get a year of manufacture for either yours or mine. Colt's serial number lookup doesn't even list the Official Police for either of our serial numbers. The serial numbers were supposedly just continued from the Army Special series. If that's true, then your .32-20 was made in 1922. That can't be right though because the Army Special wasn't rebranded to Official Police until 1927. Mine's in better condition that yours, and it has a different rear sight. My rear sight is kind of U shaped with a white ring in it that makes it easier to acquire. I hope you put some snap caps in it before you dry fire it. The old Colts have fragile firing pins, I have heard.

I believe this one may be an Army Special that was rebarreled with an Official Police barrel. Or it could be that it came from Colt this way. They often produced non standard guns. If someone discovered some old parts (frames, barrels, whatever) in the warehouse, they used them. Sometimes long after that style of parts were discontinued. I used to have a Colt Cobra is 32 NP with the tapered barrel with the unshrouded ejector rod and long grip frame. By the serial number, it was made in 1975. Several years after that caliber, frame, and barrel style were discontinued.

Question about the production date of this gun. (I love a mystery.) The serial number range for the Colt Official Police for its first year (1927) is 513216-539999. Looks like your number (471XXX) is lower than that ... but I can't make out the last digit. If the last "number" is really a "J", your gun is from 1975. (I am no expert ... just trying to learn.) Keep the videos coming!
@1957Shep10 жыл бұрын
It could be that it`s an Amry Special rebarreled with an Official Police barrel.
