Putting 3 barrel vents on the 4 inch was a mistake . I wish it was like the original with only 2 . I’ll wait for the 2.5 inch to come out instead of buying the 4 inch . Otherwise super excited about this .

@@fshboy007 I agree, I believe they're seeing it and it may be changed. If so those 3 ribbed guns in 4.25 will become more valuable over time. We shall see. It don't make sense they're different and nobody has given an explanation to as why they're not the same. We'll see if they respond

Why on earth was a third vent added on the 4.25"? While the blue finish looks amazing, and the 6" is an instant classic, that third vent on the 4" does not look like a Colt Python. It does not look right on that barrel and frankly, looks like one of those cheaper revolvers. Great job on the 6"; can't wait to see a 2.5" and 8" version!

@thecoltfirearms For the love of God, stop with the QR code visible. Its unnecessary to anyone. Fire whoever is running the website, Add Combat elite to the barrel of the new CE Python, and ditch the 3 vents. You guys are right on track to be back on top, Keep it up but fix the non-sense stuff.

I'm pretty disappointed that Colt added an extra vent on the 4.25" version. It just ends up too crowded looking and resembles an old Taurus more than a Python. I was really looking forward to purchasing one, but it looks like I'll have to hold off or settle for a 6" model. If Colt actually monitors these comments, I sincerely hope that a standard, 2-vent version of the blue 4.25" Python will be offered sooner than later. I won't be able to get my wallet out fast enough if so!

I got them both, JB. Side by side with my 1979 BP, it’s just amazing how well this new finish compares to the classic. It’s so good, it must be a magic trick to look that great at that msrp. Well done, Colt. Well done.

I already have a 6” stainless steel Python but now I want a 4.25” python blued but I was wondering Colt is it possible if you guys can also release a 4.25” blue Python with 2 ribs like the 4.25” stainless steel Python. I would buy that in a heartbeat! I love the way the 2 rib vents look on the 4.25” pythons.

I have a 2020 colt python with a 4.25 inch barrel. The rear site tends to be a bit wobbly but it is still accurate. Then I bought a 2024 colt python with the blued finish..it has a 6 inch barrel. I noticed on this gun the rear site is solid. One more week to go before I can pick it up at the gun store.

BIG mistake to put a third vent on the 4.25”. I was super excited to get this one but now that I’ve seen it, I’m out. Unless they put it back to the way it was, it’s a hard pass for me now. Totally killed it for me. Way to go Colt, you screwed up again.

I own two of the new Pythons 3 inch & a 4.250 & love them, but a blued 6 inch is what I dreamed of as a boy & that will be the next purchase! However the 3 vents on the 4.250 makes the beautiful Colt look like a Taurus 😮😢! I also bought a 6 inch Anaconda recently & it has the best trigger of a revolver that I’ve ever fired!!!

Colt/CZ should bring back the law enforcement line wheel guns such as the Lawman, Trooper, air marshal and Detective special. I think they’d sell well.

So it has that same user unfriendly rear sight that the stainless models have...VERY frustrating to dial in windage since there are no "clicks"..not to mention that don't forget to bring along a .050" hex wrench to loosen that TINY set screw so one can adjust windage..🙄🙄

Both Wilson Combat and Kensight make proper rear sights for the new Pythons that are compatible with the standard front sights. I don’t even have a new Python yet and I already have a Wilson Combat sight, ready to go.

I had always planned to get a 6-inch version if they every made them in blue, so it looks like I can finally do so. Although I wasn’t planning on getting a 4.25” version, the idiotic move to put three vents on it makes it a hard “no”. They should make them just like the stainless version, with two vents.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing them. The 3 slot instead of 2 sounds interesting. I know people will complain But there are still plenty of first generation pythons for sale. These new guns should come with the Wilson Rear sight. I bought the new 6" Stainless as a shooter. My first generation Blue is too pretty to shoot. Glad we have steel handguns! Could you have Royal Blue versions from the Custom shop? $1,800 would be a fair price

I went to one of my local gun shops to pick up a new blued Python. PLEASE explain to me why Colt put the gawd awful QR code on the side of the gun. It's very tacky looking and completely unnecessary IMHO. Most of my collection is earlier Colts but I do have some current production models too. On my newer 1911's I found the QR code hidden under the mainspring housing, completely out of sight. I'd rather they weren't there at all but they are, but at least I don't have to look at them every time I shoot them. I am glad that you brought back the blued Pythons, but as long as the QR code is stuck on the side of the new versions, absolutely ruining the beautiful looks of the gun, I will stick with my early guns

I can live with the changes you guys felt you 'had' to make with the exception of the grips. Way too narrow. They mught work for a girly boy but never for a man with man size hands. I ordered a pair of Deer Hollow grips that look like second gen OEM grips. None of this laminate crap. They look and feel better than OEM. I guess Colt is going to slop back and forth before finally asking its customers for feedback in a real conversation. CZ needs to reign them in.

I asked the question directly to Colt and got this reply on 1/25/2024: “We submit all of our firearms for approval with the state of CA. It is up to them when they will be approved. I would check the state approved list often.” Sort of a non-answer. Have they ALREADY submitted to CA, or is it’s overhung they will do, someday? I don’t remember-how long after the 2020 stainless models were released did they become available in CA?

@@576103 They just added two models to the roster yesterday. The 5 inch stainless and the 2.5 inch stainless, which just came out recently. I check the roster daily. I think the 2020 Python showed up on the roster fairly quickly within a couple months of it's release. I would expect the Python Combat Elite and the blued models to show up on there in the near future.

@@576103 The CA handgun roster seems like a gimmick for the state to keep making money. Why would they need to keep submitting the same model over and over again for testing when it's the same internals, same firing mechanisms? Just different barrel lengths, grips, and finishes. I assume Colt has to pay an annual fee for each handgun to renew on there as well.

This to me is a fail from Colt. 1. It is not Royal Blue 2. Only 2 barrel lengths? 3. Ruined the classic look which I would think would alienate the type of buyer that would be interested in a blued revolver in 2024. The original Royal Blue Pythons are very beautiful guns, they DO NOT have blued hammers, and have the proper amount of vents in the barrel rib which should have been 2 NOT 3 in this barrel length. Maybe I am off base but $200 more for this I think will not sell as well as it would have potentially if they did it more true to the original. I believe the type of buyer who would be more into this would be more traditionally minded thus not as likely interested in this Blued Python in its current configuration. Good luck Colt, hopefully you will bring back lightweight revolvers next and some new ones.

I agree. 3 things that would have made this blue Python so much better. Properly blued hammer, where the sides, below the spur, are in the white. Traditional 2 vent barrel on the 4.25", shoulda just kept it 4" barrel anyhow, but still. Shoulda kept the original cylinder notch lead-in specs, these current ones are long as runways & very unattractive, especially on the STS Pythons. They did that to hide cylinder drag because the simplified action no longer dictates where the bolt drops, it could drop anywhere, & to hide that they made the lead-ins longer. All you had to do was make a copy of the original Python aesthetically, it's not hard, or expensive. These little details not being done correctly is just stupid.

I do find it underwhelming that a premium revolver has a problematic rear sight that thankfully was addressed by Wilson Combat. Do you happen to know if Royal Blue recently became illegal to do due to governmental regulations? I could swear that they made a Royal Blue 1911 somewhat recently I thought?

Your talking about firearms that look like they left the factory half way through and these look no where near that. Your talking works of art with amazing attention to detail. So hilarious what people will say just from adding a slight similarity. To me, either rib design looks great. Some people are just never happy.

Did they fix the pathetic rear sight that are on all the new stainless ones? Thanks Colt I had to spend another 100 some bucks for a new rear sight to get it to shoot. Spending this much money on revolver and the thing can't shoot is pathetic.
