Toy's guitar style and song writing couldn't be duplicated so it made him the most irreplaceable member. The thing that I think is most unique about their music, and is what drew me too them, is the additional talent of Jerry Eubanks. His alto sax and flute parts in many of their songs just took this band to remarkable heights in southern rock. It was a once in a lifetime blending that stomped your feet while electricity shot up and down your spine. Boy Howdie!

A great KZbin comment. This song came up on my KZbin homepage for some reason, I’d never even heard of them before so I decided to give them a listen, it was the flute that kept me on board during the intro to keep listening. This song takes me way back to 1973. So much feeling and heart ache in this song. Me and three of my best friends got high and piled into a car and headed for Texas Hall at the University of Texas at Arlington. It turned out to be an auditorium that would hold about 5000 people, but only 3000 showed up. The concert was billed for Jo Jo Gunn, The Marshall Tucker Band and Robin Trower. We knew a lot about Jo Jo Gunn but very little about the other two bands. We sat at the front of the balcony, looking down on the stage and boy o boy were we ever blown away by all three bands. We loved southern rock and Marshall Tucker was medicine for my soul. One of the all time great concerts that I have been to.

my dad told me the first time of seeing the Marshall tucker band. it was just when the Allman Brothers started touring again with the loss of Duane, so my dad and his friend where on the right side of the stage about level with it too. they look at the amp stack and airbrushed on said Marshall Tucker Band " just like the Allman Brothers did" and the band blew the Brothers away with this song and many others like 24 hours at a time and fire on the mountain. feel i had to share that story one of my favorites

Did a hit a blotter and traveled through a snowstorm, in the backseat, to see these guys in the mid1970s. Absolutely a great time.

Historic group & times. I hopped two freight trains once in the mid 70's to finish off my hippy years.. one to Portland Or, the other to Spokane Wa. ..memorable rides. Had to do it. My wife drove me nuts. She never did drugs, smoke or drank. Thought it was a sure thing to straighten me out. She did. She was crazier than me without the help. A true nut job. It's been 35 lonely years after letting her go, but sorry to say she burned me for life. I want to go back to Walla Valley & the Blue Mountains. I need final peace. ...this song is truly epic for me.

This was recently voted the #1 Southern Rock song of all time by Classic Rock Revisited (I think that's the name of the publication). I am a huge Skynyrd fan, but I couldn't agree more with the selection of "Can't You See" as # 1. What a GREAT song!! Long live MTB!

That was an opinion of a few. No disrespect to Marshall Tucker but if a nation wide poll was taken I would bet that these songs by southern rock bands would give “Can’t You See” a run for its money and then some: Lynyrd Skynyrd- Sweet Home Alabama, Simple Man, Free Bird Molly Hatchet- Flirting With Disaster and Dreams I’ll Never See Outlaws- Green Grass and High Tides BlackFoot- Highway Song Thirty Eight Special- I’d Be the One and Hold On Loosely Allman 6:49 Brothers- Whipping Post, Ramblin Man and Midnight Rider ZZ Top- Lagrange or about any ZZ Top song. I like Marshall Tucker, bought their albums and went to see them live. But I have to say, my opinion, Lynyrd Skynyrd is the cream of southern rock!

This song seems to channel the anguish and pain of generations....Toy Caldwell seems to convey the spirit of an entire culture through his searing vocal, perhaps the best Les Paul tone ever, and a magical combination of notes played with incredible expressiveness and exquisite vibrato.

Your absolutely right. I don’t think it will ever get that great again. This song is one of a kind and timeless. Every time I hear it , it’s like hearing it the first time. 💚😃🤍
