Why did gun violence not rise at all during or after covid when they had record gun sales for two years straight? More first time gun buyers than ever before. Last time I checked pre covid we owned 42% of the worlds guns. So you would think we would all be dead or surviving shootings everyday. The fact is they skew the statistics for their agenda. They count almost everything as a "mass" shooting even though actual "mass" shootings are very rare. Like the New York shooting. But they count every Chicago gang shootout with more than like 3 people injured in the mass shooting category. And thats not true. Thats again why you need to removed the suicides and gang violence out of the statistic to get the actual percentage. And then take that number compared to the amount of guns we own compared to every other country and its actually quite amazing how little gun violence we have. @@pamelapeterson2987 Rebuilding the American nuclear family. Stop subsidizing single motherhood. Stop promoting divorce. Stop giving everyone a trophy and get back to personal responsibility. Building community and in person interaction instead of living all online. Build programs to help families. Not free money from government type programs but job training, motherhood training, better mental health access and treatment, better drug abuse treatment (especially in prison). Get rid of for profit prison systems that promote having large amounts of people in prison and allow them to promote programs that lower the risk of people coming back to prison (which they dont want bc they make money off of them coming back). Bring the public education system back to actually teaching. Adding back in, and more of, life skills classes such as cooking, mechanics, farm/agriculture, welding, etc etc. That was what came to mind just off the top of my head to build better behavior. Bc just about every actual true "mass shooting" we have in the country or gang violence shooting (which accounts for the most gun violence), or mental health shooting (suicides are the highest or second highest gun violence statistic i can't remember) all revolve around our terrible education, family support, job building, drug/alcohol treatment, mental health treatment... It's just insane that we send billions to crappy foreign countries like Saudi Arabi or spend a trillion dollars on giving everyone free checks to stay at home for 2 weeks but we "don't have the money" to do anything that I listed above. Even though we know for a fact that not having a father in the home is hte leading cause of almost every behavior issue. Not having mental health or addiction treatment causes most crime and suicides. etc etc.

The desired solution is to find ways to prevent crimes. Mandatory sentences help a little, but few criminals expect to be caught, let alone convicted. It goes back to better parenting. If parents are dishonest and rear kids to be dishonest, then the possibility of a longer prison sentence isn't going to make much difference. Many juveniles don't acre because they know their juvenile records will be sealed when they reach 18, so they think f it as free crime. We need different and longer sentences and more counseling for juveniles in their facilities. Another example of stating at the wrong end of a problem: Giving free crack pipes to addicts. That does nothing to PREVENT drug addiction and all the crime and wasted lives that goes with it. It prevents minor diseases associated with dirty crack pipes. The emphasis needs to be on preventing kids from starting on drugs at all. To prevent crimes and even gun crimes, rear kids right.

As a retired NYPD Officer, I would like to commend the Columbia and participating Law Enforcement Units for their professionalism and preparedness. This presser was done extremely well. It covered the unfortunate event, injuries and set up a meeting/info center with phone for concerned family members. It goes to show that practice makes perfect (something that Broward Sherrif Scott Israel should have done).

The overwhelming majority of legislation that Republicans have introduced and passed over the last 2 years were laws to limit when, where and how American citizens can vote so I have not been able to keep up. In 2017 Georgia purged over 500,000 voters from their roles in one day. Apparently, not voting in an election or two or having the same, or a similar name as another voter is enough of a reason to lose your ability to vote in Georgia. Logic not required. Even Trump has said the quiet part outloud when he said that Republicans would never be elected if everyone was allowed to vote; it's been an open secret for a while now. The Florida GOP didn't just pass a law allowing the governor to unilaterally redistrict (gerrymander) the entire state because they love free and fair elections. It's all about maintaining power and they don't even have to pretend to care about the will of the people anymore. It's all so disgusting!

Gun ownership IS a Constitutional right. NOBODY is restricting voting, just illegal voting. The only way to prevent people from committing voter fraud (voting multiple times, not being a citizen, registering dead people and entire Alzheimer's nursing homes, etc.) is to require VOTER ID. Any citizen can easily get one. No legal citizen is prevented from voting except felons who have not had their Constitutional rights restored after serving their sentences. Yet we have more gun violence than anyone else. We are in need of metal detectors in public places. I am thinking of owning a mall and if I do metal detectors in all entrances.
