Whichever Columbia student is leading these “negotiations”…. I hope they aren’t trying to study political science or law, because negotiations require realistic expectations and concessions. “Divestment, disclosure, and amnesty” isn’t something they can even hope to achieve considering the encampment failed to make Columbia act. Now they are breaking actual laws by occupying a building. They are staying in that building because they know they’ve already lost, Columbia is even less incentivized to consider divestment. Not only that, but they lost whatever legitimacy they may have still had, as the conversation is now less about divestment and the tragedies in Gaza and more about what a bunch of entitled idiots these people are. Asking for amnesty is laughable, because it just validates that they know they are in the wrong.

Take their Columbia IDs and tell them they aren't graduating. I remember a student at Hopkins who raped another student after his senior year ended but before graduation. He didn't graduate. A student at Conn College gave a commencement address (?Valedictorian) and it was later discovered that he plagiarized it. The school rescinded his degree. Columbia and other Ivy league schools have already lost so much credibility. At these prices, the only people who will be going there are the ones the arabs pay for. Oh - and the Obama-Biden administration.
