I live right near the “great”western shopping center. It’s basically only a parking lot now. I can’t believe it used to be that cool. I would have loved to walk around there with the wonders.

@user-et4mh1kz4z Not sure what you're talking about. Prairie township/Galloway has been around since the early-1800s, but in a channel about Columbus Westside, they don't have one video about the west side. You must be a bot replying to a comment from 3 months ago.

I delivered newspapers between Sullivant Ave and broad street just west of central avenue When I delivered the Sunday Papers you could hear the patients screaming at 6 am way back from the street One Sunday morning a huge black man ran across the yard of the hospital, jumped the fence and ran down the street, he was as naked as a jaybird. Huge guy, he did not even see me, I was sitting on a porch of a little store in the front of a house.

When I worked at the Ohio Department of Transportation, the first time I took a picture with my phone inside , gps said I was at mental institution. Also, the tiny unmarked cemetery is way back by the helipad, saw it accidentally while roaming around the property on my lunch.

Never knew the architect of West High School nor the 7 wonders at Westland. Should have skipped all the food trucks which certainly were not original to the Westside History. Why do them.

I worked at the state hospital in 1971. I was 19 years old. It was a terrible place and creepy . I worked night shift.

I thought this video would be more history, changes and how the area has evolved. Instead we got a video on Westgate and a food truck. I’m a tad underwhelmed.

Foodtruck is an interesting story, food needs to be talked about more, its quite informative on how this business got its start and how it progressed down to the present

The crazy part is west high school is falling apart inside with kids still attending classes. A kid just got shot at Westgate Park less than a month ago. Wheres the real westside? Hookers walk the streets constantly. Drug houses on every block. While rental rates and housing prices are as high as neighborhoods without these things.... I've lived on the Westside for 43 years... I wish it was as you pretend it is in this video 💯

I live in the Hilltop too - there are many positive things going on here! Plus, this segment speaks to the HISTORY of the area, not entirely about the current state.

I lived in Westgate from 74-89, it was a good area then. The downfall began when bussing started in 1978. Everyone who could move did; to obscure farm communities like Dublin township, Hilliard, Gahanna etc. West High looks better than when I attended it.

I'm 63and grew up on the Hilltop and still live here. I love the Hilltop, there are many good, hard working people here. Yes, the gentrification of the bottoms has push some bad people up the hill but every side of town has it's issues.
