Your dad was right about most but the thing is you only need one! If you're not already there make sure you become the person you want to attract. One good man is worth more than 1,000 free dates. Also, you should allow your dad an opinion on the men you talk to. His perspective is Gold. He'll only want the best for you so his opinion will be in your best interest. And at the end of the day your dad will always be there for you to fall back on if that fails. #fromagirldad

Same! My parents were married, and my dad always provided for us but he pressed me about getting my education and being able to be self-sufficient because that's also just part of being an adult and survival. And I get it as an adult because my mom is extremely dependent on my step dad now financially especially since she's in her 60s because of her line of work. her line of work would not provide a good life for her. On the other hand, my job and what I earn along with my degrees and certifications - should my husband and I split right now, I can live alone and support myself and be just fine.

Agreed. It’s a complex issue that ppl love to generalize. As a man I could go on the flip side and say black men aren’t stepping up to support or get black women that they are shaming. Black women are outperforming men in education, earnings, and home ownership. Yet we want them to minimize themselves or get with a dude who has no ambition? We all got issues that we gotta work through, men and women. I truly believe if you want to find and marry a good black woman than you can do that. If you don’t then that’s cool but we gotta stop publicly bashing each other.

Black woman here that grew up in another country (Canada) and now reside in the U.S. 🙋🏾‍♀️ This rhetoric is diabolical and getting old - fast. I grew up in a two parent household with parents celebrating their 48th wedding anniversary next month. I have six siblings - three brothers and three sisters. We know how to love, communicate and all have successful careers. I have personally done self reflection and the work necessary to continue to evolve in this human experience we call life. I want a partner not a dependent- someone who we take care and serve each other. We operate in reciprocity. Painting all people or black woman in the same light is ignorant and may leave some missing out on their blessing. When I hear the red pill mentality I quietly shift to the left as it’s toxic and close minded. Heal and educate yourself before it’s too late and the black race goes extinct. Peace and blessings ✌🏾❤️

What’s wrong with not needing a man??? I think every woman’s goal should be to position herself to not need a man to survive and not be ashamed to say it. I’m a smart cookie and I honestly don’t understand why this has some men up in arms. (Perhaps those men need therapy to unpack why their manhood is dependent on a woman needing them.) Also - this should go without saying - not needing a man doesn’t men you don’t appreciate them or want them. You just don’t *need* them. In my mind men should want women who don’t need them b/c then you know she’s there for the right reasons. Why would you prefer a woman who wouldn’t be with you if she could survive on her own. (Perhaps that’s it - men know many women only deal with them out of need, so you shame women into relying on you so you maintain access 🤔🤔.)

It’s all about who you choose to chase you should be able to think about it objectively why did you mom keep getting with dogs because their are good black men. Most black women don’t pick men for the right reasons such as characteristics

There are countless times of a woman saying I don't need no man. Why would someone be with someone like that feel that way? Because if you feel like you just want and don't need a man, then the commitment will not be strong enough.

Bingo!!!!! And thats what they always conveniently never what to talk about. and when a black woman brings that up, she's being disrespectful or masculine. We are literally dealing with a ton of underdeveloped man-boys

Weird how you all spread your legs for deadbeats over and over again, and it’s somehow never your fault. 🤦🏾‍♂️ Accountability truly is a black woman’s Kryptonite.

The reality of all of this, is how people are commenting without watching the actual interview. The media is really treacherous by taking a sound bite and folks fall for the bait every time.

It’s not about teaching black kids to be FUNCTIONAL ADULTS that can take care of themselves. That’s a giving for anybody regardless of race. It’s about TEACHING and SHOWING our kids how to WORK, LIVE and LOVE together.

If Charlemagne isnt there it should be an actual law that Envy and Jess aren't allowed to dicuss anything that has to do with the plight of us Black people or politics! These are two very unintelligent people. And the other day when Charlemagne wasnt there and they were talking politics was the most embarrassing thing.Thats dangerous they hve a huge platform and someone without common sense might be dumb enough to listen to them.
