Pastor David Reid ! Does the word 'air' in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 refer to the heavens, and if yes, which particular heaven was the Apostle Paul referring to ? Is it the 1st, 2nd or 3rd ?
@ColumbusBibleChurch20 күн бұрын
@LeonLKC Yes, the air is a reference to the heavens. As to the particular heaven, there is not a verse that specifies, but we shall be ever with the Lord (1Th 4:17) so we will be where He is. Grace.

2 Thessalonians 2: 7 ...at the REVELATION of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire, 8 rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus: 9 who shall suffer punishment, [even] eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day. The "revelation" of the Lord is that which Paul previously spoke about at 1 Thessalonians 4:14 -18. Rendering - to give what is due. Vengeance - retribution or punishment - not vindication. That which flows out of justice! TWO groups are mentioned here... 1.) THOSE that KNOW NOT God. These NEVER knew salvation! The "lawless". cf. Matthew 7:21-23, Titus 1:16, 1Ths.4:5. 2.) THOSE that "OBEY NOT" the Gospel. Those once saved but have allowed their faith to be "shipwrecked"!! 2.) The disobedient! Failing to obey - non-compliant. Matthew 13:41, cf. Rom. 2:6-8, 1 Timothy 1:19, Rev. 2:10. “In that day...” Matt.7:22, Lk 10:12, 2Tim 1:18 cf. 2Tim.4:8.

If Mid-Acts Dispensationalism is true, why is there no record of such teaching in the early church? Are you suggesting that the church misunderstood the Bible for nearly 2,000 years until modern MADS teachers “corrected” it? If Christ is not divided (1 Corinthians 1:13), why does your teaching emphasize division between the apostles’ ministries and the church? Does this not contradict the unity of the body of Christ?

@UponaROCK The so-called early church taught many things that were wrong. In actuality, the most important leader in the early church was Paul, and he was an unapologetic Mid-Acts dispensationalist. There is unity in Christ, but that doesn't mean that Paul and Peter had the same ministries. Consider Acts 15, Gal 2:7-9, etc. Grace.

@@ColumbusBibleChurch If the early church taught many things that were wrong, are you accusing the Holy Spirit of failing to guide the church into all truth, as Jesus promised in John 16:13? Acts 2:42 says, “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine.” Were the apostles themselves teaching error under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit? Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 2:13, “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God.” How could the early church have been in error if they were receiving the apostles’ teachings as the very Word of God?
