HDMI ARC supports up to 8 channels, which is typically 7.1 where as Dolby Atmos is 5.1.2. There is a difference between 7.1 and 5.1.2. That's why Dolby ATMOS support through HDMI is debatable. Check the HDCP version of your ARC port. However, HDMO eARC supports up to 32 channels.

Below are some of the dolby codecs: 1. Dolby digital AC3(lossy compression) 2. Dolby digital plus EAC3(lossy compression) 3. Dolby TrueHD(lossless compression) In the above codecs Dolby Atmos is supported by Dolby digital plus and Dolby TrueHD. For Dolby digital plus ARC is enough. For Dolby TrueHD you need E-ARC. So both of you are not fully correct in this subject. You need E-ARC to enjoy Dolby Atmos which is encoded using Dolby TrueHD codec.

For your kind information , there is a commercial version and film industry version in atmos , which is all home appliances works in a softwware programmed version of atmos which is not a exact one still the directional reverbrations occured. But professional sounding channels comes with 16 channels maximum . Both are different aspects bro . Please read the technology so u can be clarified about these technical parts

Dolby Atmos will work with hdmi ARC i have 32 inch realme tv. Later i purcahsed zebronics 9750 soundbar which supports atmos. When i purchase i had doubt that the tv support atmos or not When i play atmos content from my tv i can see the input is displaying as ARC and content shows Atmos It doesn't mean that its playing losses audio, its a compressed/loss format my tv wont support trueHD.. i tried the same with av receiver and frie tv stick without earc it support it plays atmos content. So ARC support Dolby Atmos not dolby true HD
