Just bought an old and dirty American 16... no glass repairs appear to be needed, but lots of cleaning. I’m still pretty new to sailing, so I will follow your videos and take notes! ✌️

Thank you so much for this video. My dad was a sailor and passed away suddenly in 2014. My mother recently let me know she had to get rid of his boat, and it’s my absolute dream to clean it up and at least take it. I worked on cleaning it all day and have to go back tomorrow to do more. I’m trying to figure out what the boat is, and after watching this, I think it’s the same boat. Thanks again.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Good luck fixing the boat up. Glad you plan on sailing it. Thanks for watching.

I just agreed to purchase a 1990 Com-Pact 16 and started looking for channels. When I get hands on I will keep in conversations with you. It looks to be in the about the same condition.

They are small enough to work on your self. I should be separating the deck from the hull in aug/sept. Plan on redoing the stringers in the fall and then paint and reassembly. Thanks for following along and hope your project goes well.

Thanks for your video. I have the same boat, same conditions Given to me by a friend who had it in his yard for 16 years. Are you planning to separate the deck from the hull?
@BikesBoatsBivouacs4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm going to separate it to rebuild the stringers. I haven't decided if I'm going to chisel out the cement ballast and replace it will lead or just leave it in place.

Sure, the key with these boats is the concrete keel. Take some pics of the inside where the keel buts up to the bottom of the boat. Let's take a look at the pics
