great video! i am going to be doing a 4.o swap in a 86 xj. I know i am going to have to work around the firewall and some other videos. I couldnt find any videos of this being done before aside from yours. Even though you had the 4 cylinder, it still helps for reference. I think i will post some videos of my swap for reference in case anyone is interested.

Pretty sweet mang. I was basically going to do the same thing to my 91 mj back in July. Basically just swap the engine and transmission from a 95 xj. But I messed up my hand and wound up losing a finger. but yeah I'm definitely going to get back into it and definitely going to be following along with your series. Good luck with everything.

Myron Jansen dang man. I hope you are feeling better. The whole series is done and my Jeep is running already. I am not sure if I mention it in the video but you need a different gas tank to fit the xj sending unit and fuel pump

I’m using a Comanche gas tank from one of the carbureted engine options. You can get them brand new on eBay. It’s the ones without a slosh pan inside

i am looking to do the same swap in my 87 Comanche… i will be swapping the tranny as well so i’ll have 4x4. should have front drive shaft front axles and assembly here this weekend. then i will have to find a 4.0 wether it be from ebay or quadratec… is there anything else i might need to get?

I would recommend finding a complete cherokee local to you so you have all the parts you might need at your disposal
