I actually created a fan-made style that is inspired by not just Niko but IRL arts like Boxing, Muay Thai, Aikido etc. Instead of Niko's 4 katas, there are 12 symbolizing each of the Chinese Zodiac. For example, Rat is Fire's equivalant focusing on movement, Dragon focus on kicks, Boar on punches, Dog on Grappling and so on and so forth.

Nobody has "mastered" the Niko style. They have adopted it's general uses.The whole point of the Niko style is that "It is up to you" So it can only be "mastered" individually.
@RedFoxGrappler4 ай бұрын
@@NuevoExistence wouldn’t that mean that everyone’s mastered it? Like obviously you have to get the fundies down, so Ohma hadn’t really mastered Niko Style as taught by Four until like the tail end of the Annihilation Tourney and Koga only has a partial mastery of what little Ohma’s taught him, but the point at which you can make Niko Style your own and adapt things to your liking rather than trying to do it as taught incorrectly is the moment I’d consider it “mastered”. It’s an interesting thought experiment and one of the reasons that the style is so fun and entertaining to watch in action and growing as an art

The Niko style isn't just a martial art based on adaptability, but also survivability, the 4 kata's ultimate techniques exemplify this. Niko 4, during one of the flashbacks in Asura, said (I'm paraphrasing here) that the Niko style was designed to be used in nearly any combat encounter, in almost any physical condition. he also mentioned that the ultimate techniques aren't instant win moves, they are designed to help you survive whether you're in peak condition or not. Water Kata's "water mirror", has the application of strangling the opponent with their own arm, however, by 4's own admission, you could perform the technique with your own arm, damaged or not, should the situation call for it. Fire Kata's "shrinking earth" could be used to escape a situation/fight too dangerous or difficult to handle alone, or to close the distance and engage in grappling/striking. Adamantine Kata has "Body Binding," a technique that uses delicate & precise muscle control to use body parts with broken bones. Finally, Redirection Kata has "Marionette", reduceing your movements to their minimum, conserving energy and stamina.

@matheusalves51604 ай бұрын
Niko style base and guard reminds me a lot of old boxing stances, specially those before the wide use of gloves and/or before the Marquess of Queensberry rules era. And it makes sense when you analize the philosophy behind these two arts: a few basic rules - bare-knuckle - parry heavy - belt wrestling street self defense style. Which also makes it similar to Muay Thai, Pankration (the real ancient Greek sport, not the modern dojo's style of "Pankration") and the Cai Li Fo Quan family of chinese martial arts, and consequently, Karate and Sanda. It really shows how limited the hunan body is, and how we've been doing pretty much the same thing trying to hurt each other.
@RedFoxGrappler4 ай бұрын

Niko style always struck me as a combination of martial arts concepts that Sandrovich and his collaborators like the most, either for their real world applicability or for the cool factor of their hypothetical abilities, rolled into one. Redirection is basically Aiki, Adamantine kata contains visual similarities to Bajiquan and shares the basic idea of pushing your body all together as one to become difficult to move. Most fighting styles in Kengan can be summed up as "MMA with fewer rules" (so Vale Tudo I guess), and he really likes to demonstrate that with small joint techniques and finger gore. Something that probably comes from a clear fascination with classical jujutsu. All of this seems to be represented in the Niko style. Also the concept behind the Formless style is almost word for word the same as Jeet Kune Do. Even if the end result is visually very different, and we already have a JKD rep in Himuro, I still think Jeet Kune Do and Bruce Lee more generally was an influence on the Formless style. Particularly how it's depicted in a very liquid manner, calling to mind Bruce Lee's most famous quote. "Empty your mind. Be formless. Shapeless. Like water. You pour water into a cup it becomes the cup, you pour water into a bottle is becomes the bottle, you pour water into a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now that water can flow, or it can crash. Be water my friend." Considering that, the similarity is a little too strong to be a coincidence. W vid. I only just recently found the free time to finish watching your backlog and I can safely say you're in my top five favorite youtubers now. Really looking forward to the Total Fighting video, especially since I feel Baki's style doesn't get enough attention, with his success often simplified to "Hanma Blood TM" or "because he's the main character".

I just love how Niko style is basically what I imagine Jeet Kune Do to be if Bruce Lee ( rest in peace) lived long enough to fully develop the style and add more to it then just strikes. Not to mention that Niko style was basically developed in the same fashion as the old Bruce Lee quote “Take what is useful and discard what doesn’t work” which is what Mukaku basically did. Even funnier is that the Niko Style was developed by Mukaku when he was in the Inside and Himuro Ryo grew up in the Inside and he is a practitioner of Jeet Kune Do which is a sort of roundabout loop of styles and how the Niko style was written and why it is the best simply because it is the most practical. I agree, but I honestly still do like Ohma and Kengan

It's funny how this guy say it's not fiction because nobody can move like those average fighters in Kengan ashura and kengan Omega alike, ofcourse if someone mix some certain style with another bunch of styles making it a total of four that focuses on fout important things then sure fanboys can call it the Niko Style but the closest thing you get to that is MMA which literally stands for more then one martial arts and focuses on all four things plus mastering the Niko style in real life is impossible cause... well as you can see the most craziest thing those fighters pull off.
@RedFoxGrappler3 ай бұрын
@@Azizullah95th no, that’s not only wrong, but it flies in the face of everything I talked about in the video. The Niko Style is not MMA, and if you’re not getting that, you either don’t know what MMA is, don’t understand Niko Style, or you don’t understand either. Also, not sure what you mean by people in real life not being able to move like fighters in Kengan since everything in Kengan is based on real life, even the fictional styles, but sure dude, whatever you say lmao

@@RedFoxGrappler bro look at how they move hell look at their achievements, they freaking break walls like it's nothing. Also I'm not talking about MMA and Niko style being the same I said MMA is a style close to Niko style but entirely different cause they both utilize grappling, strikes and defense and can be formed in to one personal style like the Niko style where every Niko style fighters evolved to their own personal style, same goes to MMA sometime they add jiujitsu, sometime they add sambo, some other times they add BJJ and so on.

So... Jeet Kune Do?
@RedFoxGrappler3 ай бұрын
@@skelee1401 no, JKD is fundamentally NOT a style, it is supposed to be a philosophy. It can be trained as a style, but that isn’t the original intent for the system. Furthermore, it’s taking techniques from other styles and incorporating them into one’s own style, whereas Niko Style is a martial arts style that has its own techniques that are simply based on or modified from existing martial arts styles. They have their similarities, but for the most part the two arts are diametrically opposed in their ideology
