Man, this game has such an interestin way of doing almost anything and it feels like you're learning everything along with your character. From combat to weapon sharpening and alchemy. You have no idea what you're doing at first and you mess it up, but as long as you keep trying, it becomes better and better. And I love that about the game.

What a wonderful, frustrating game. I started another run just recently (never finished the game), and the difficulty spikes happen because of the enemies that spawn. There's one spot that has alternately had peasants, lightly armored Cumans, and fully armored opponents. I wind up saving just before I get there, just in case something goes wrong.

I’m about to play through again as well. Good point on the random mob difficulty. I started saving every time I fast traveled just to be safe.

With shield and all the shield/block related perk, I have won numerous 1vs8 or more. Just need to be patience and it is easy.

Getting combos to land is really hard, by the time you have an opponent who can survive the first hits, they can parry and riposte themselves. Or there are 6 peasants with maces and 2 dogs…. Your point about keeping your enemies in front of you is good, you lose fast when you are surrounded.

Enjoying these videos - perfect for me having started the game in the wake of the KCD trailer! So pull off the master strike, you need to block pretty much before the green shield appears? Also good tips on the bandit camps. I've just started those, so easy to get swarmed and killed even if kitted up.

Thanks! Correct on the master strikes. Also the higher you level your weapon the later you can hit block to pull off the master strike.

if i go one vs one most enemies barely attack me, they just circle around me and wating for me to attack them, so they can block it or parry it, that so stupid

There are really 2 things I complain about the combat in this game: 1. Group fight (1vs many) just ends up tedious. I know it's meant to be realistic (aka hard or unrealistic to win), but I wish there are other ways to winning these besides running then baiting master strike every encounter. (Or finding a spot to cheese the enemies with bow). The janky lock on to enemy mechanic also ruins the experience in these scenarios. 2. Master strikes render combo practically useless. Also why would a random peasant know how to master strike a lvl 20 knight 😂 I love this game, I hope they truly refine the 2nd game. KCD1 feels a lot like Dragons Dogma 1 in some ways. It felt like a bunch of unique ideas and visions that was never fully realized. Fingers crossed KCD 2 doesn't end up like DD2.

Solution to these are: 1. Get rid of the auto lock on. 2. Make dodging a manual control you can do at anytime. (KCD2 did this, but only when you're in combat) 3. For both player or enemy, they first need to match the zone the opponent is in for a masterstrike to occur. Attack anywhere else will never trigger a masterstrike, and make it harder for perfect blocks to happen.

Found combat really frusterating at low levels. After Stephanies quest i went back to Uzitz and bought a much better and braver horse. Thats when i learned you cannot be attacked when mounting your horse and braver horses wont throw you. Using Kanthaka to take out weaker enemies with either sword or bow as an opening and then dismounting while keeping him near mskes for a quick reset when you get overwhelmed. Also using the horsemandhip thigh upgrade perk makes you harder to unhorse. While learning combat this was pivotal for me as I always had a way to get out of a swarm of enemies.

When you train master blocks and strikes, that's it, game gets easier, 1v2 is easy

For some reason, I can't find Captain Brenard, it could be because of the quest that I am in right now, but I dunno.

Definitely possible. There is a quest that takes captain Bernard away from the training area. Once you finish the quest he’ll go back.

Master strike is bad game design and makes the combat incredibly boring. I love the game but the combat system sucks ass. I really hope they make it more interesting in the sequel.

I was really immersed by the combat of this game. I had to start going to bermard and start practicing with him at least once a day to just to RP my training as a soldier. I got disappointed when I realize at certain point all that boils down to just abusing MS.

Same for me. There are 2 things I would have liked in this game to be able to appreciate it 100% and be perfect: A 3rd person view, and another combat gameplay

I hear ya. I rage quit and swore off the game at one point. 😆 Next day I was back at training with Bernard. Doing the Rattay tourney and eventually it clicked. Combat is still a bit clunky at times but I’m really enjoying the game.

Combat is awful in this game. And it doesnt require skill. Not only is it awful, but the game doesn't tell you what to do so you have to google it. So to actually be good you just need to spend 10h with Bernard and upgrade your skills. It's literally that dumb. Then, get a good armor. And that's it, you can kill people. It's stupid, it's not fun, its ruining the game and many people probably quitted because they werent told what to do. Now you know. Once your statmaxxed you can go back enjoying the game without having your experienced ruined by a poorly designed system. Also, don't overcomplicate it. The game doesnt teach you much, but the little it teaches you doesn't even work. Just try to master strike and spam your combos. They wont work but if you have good stats they'll melt the enemies.

It’s incredibly rewarding and I personally love the combat system. Their streamlining it a little bit in the upcoming game in a few months, hopefully they don’t water it down though

See buddy you’re not using your head why would you not stab a archer in the face ?? And use a blunt weapon on a dude in full armor just use the proper weapons for the right enemy and the game is easy even without points in any skills 😂😂 just don’t mindlessly button smash like you do in every other game you play
