About the UAE's deployment of BMP-3s to Yemen, it didn't seem to be a large number of them, perhaps only a brigade's worth, and they were used extensively at the very beginning of the campaign in Aden and the campaigns around it in 2015/early 2016. After that, it pretty much disappears from view. No known units lost. It could be that the performance wasn't satisfactory but most likely the initial campaigns were the only ones that had decent flat ground to drive them around in. After that you get mountainous terrain and its never fun to move armored forces in mountains with ATGMs in every nook and cranny waiting for you.

From what I heard/read, BMP-3 showed to be nice combination whit Leclerc tanks and infantry. But like you said, after that there is no info about BMP-3 in Yemen.

Revisiting _CMBS_ Russian campaign I've become quite fond of it. It is very..explodey..as you point out, but there's little better for infantry support. Following Russian doctrine and using it closely with your squad, the big gun in particular is really handy on foxholes and tree lines. To my amazement two keyhole 'bumpies' (as my son calls them) made short work of a T-84 that charged through a tree line in front of them. At about 300yds they pounded it with 30mm, knocking it out by the end of the turn. I think they did so much system damage in the first bursts it could not shoot back. They stand their ground, too. They won't just back away immediately. On the other hand if you spit at it, it explodes with enough force to level a street.

I just played a Black Sea match using BMP-3Ms and, despite what was mentioned in this video, were absolutely all over those GLATGMS, using them for every Bradley they could get a solution on. So, I think, as someone else mentioned here, that there may have been some changes to the tacAI logic that makes the AI way more willing to use the AT 10. Perhaps there was a patch or something that changed the logic there, as this video was probably accurate when published. For reference, it was a quick battle, moderate fog, with about 700m engagement range. AT 10s were being pulled from magazines and the BMPs were visibly steering the shots, so I'm certain it was missiles and not just well aimed 100mm shots. It didn't stop the BMPs from exploding all over the place though. ATGMs or not, damn things are as fragile as a wet paper towel.

Frustrated about dying BMPs, I actually made two scenarios that consisted of flat grass fields, placed a platoon of BMPs on one side and Bradleys on the other, set them to their "best visibility" (so some extra crew for BMP w/ Open Up and closed for Bradley) and let the TacAI have a shootout. The sense I got is that overall Bradley has an advantage because it is just a little bit faster on the draw and TacAI recommends it fire its cannon more often. Basically if the BMP draws a AT-10 and the Bradley goes for guns BMP just dies. Also, LASER WARNING means Bradley is always aware of BMP's existence while the reverse is not true. My overall sense is that one on one you can expect 90% chance the Bradley would win at both 300 and 1000m. However, if it's platoon on platoon, BMP actually has a less than 50%, but still decent chance for coming out ahead. Often there would be a surviving BMP and it will take out multiple Brads. Nevertheless, I never had a run where BMP suffered no losses, while there are runs where Bradleys win 3-0.

@@kosomolsk The BMP-3M, with the commander opened up, has less visibility because the commander is poking his head out of his hatch instead of manning the thermals, while the buttoned up Bradley's commander would use his thermals, increasing his visibility

Unfortunetly there isnt too much information, neither too many videos about its use in the war (possibly because of its relativily speaking limited use, due the total dominance of the turkish and israeli drones in the war); althought there is atleast one BMP3 confirmed destroyed and I am sure that if one starts digging, some videos of it fighting should surface.

BMP-3 was always going to be a hard sell to any soldier who doesn't want to sit in a 19 ton bomb carrying a full load of 100mm and 30mm rounds behind only 35mm of armor. The BMP-2 has at least a modest chance of avoiding a brew up when hit-which is an often-unmentioned reason why it was preferred over its predecessor the BMP-1. The BMP-3 brings back the first vehicle worst traits and has unsurprisingly been avoided by many foreign buyers.

Bradley was immune the syrian Bmp-2 probably because they were modeled with full caliber 30mm AP rounds, which both the Bradley and the Bmp-3 can(should) resist at normal combat ranges. APDS ammo makes swiss cheese from any cold-war era IFV though. Also the Bmp-3 not being able to penetrate the side of an abrams while being able to penetrate a heavily angled 80mm plate just screams bullshit to me.

I'd love to see an overview of the German Bundeswehr from the NATO dlc in CMSF2. I just bought the dlc and I thought their squad organization was interesting and wondering if there were any tips you could pass along regarding their small 6-man squads
@holoween81033 жыл бұрын
A few short pointers: 1. The marder is an integral part of the squad. Without its close support they wont perform well. 2. They are a force with great firepower but low staying power. Use the extra ammo especially for the pzf and liberally use supression fires including from the marder. 3. They are a combined arms unit dont use them as infantry with random light armour attached like you would for the american mechanized infantry.

does the BMP-3M uses the same missile as the regular? IRL the Russian BMP-3 and BMP-3M would have access to the Tandem heat ATGMs like the 9M117M kan (1993) witch has 600mm pen and the 9M117M1(2005) with 750mm of pen.

I did do some testing and it seems like it's the same missile with the single-stage HEAT. It would have been a bit of a game changer to get one of the tandem HEAT variants.
@CarlosZig3 жыл бұрын
it's very odd that not even the M variant has the upgrade, and that no one had made that point since the lauch. Maybe the launch on steam on bring some light onto this and maybe we get an patch? i doubt it, put it would be very interesting. I personally think that the BMP-3 is one of the best all around IFV'S in the world, if not the best (CV-90 comes to mind too, but it doesn't have the sole firepower the BMP has). I would love to see the Bastion in play for this

@12:05 You might want to experiment with hand grenades against them - the game just claimed I lost TWO BMPs to a Forward Observer team armed with Hand Grenades - it seems they used about 3 grenades to do it, and I was hardly next to them - maybe 50 meters away.
@arandomperson7713 Жыл бұрын
I think you mean the underbarrel grenade launchers on most NATO infantry, as they have very nasty HEAT warheads that will eviscerate BMPs, BTRs, and MTLBs from all angles, (save for the APS and ERA variants of the BMP3M), and most MBTs if they can get a hit on a non-ERA-ed part of the hull

I read an early 2023 a critique of the Russian paratroop company with its small fighting vehicles which can only carry a small number of troops. Without having deep ranks, the unit becomes very combat ineffective very quickly in heavy fighting
@kosomolsk3 жыл бұрын
Just starting to play using the Steam version, but one of my BMP-3s just eviscerated a Bulat from the front and I noticed it used an ATGM for the kill, so *maybe* they changed it? I'm also finding the 100mm gun very useful as a squad-level infantry gun for demolition work. Someday I'll have to learn to do this right but in the meantime its nice to neutralize pesky enemy infantry by pumping a minute's worth of rounds into the floor they are on.
