Always blows me away how calm these warriors are while recalling such insane scenarios.

When I found out my uncle survived The Vietnam War, I was told not to ask anything about, and he never talked about. He's passed on, but now, I wish I would've said something to him about his experiences. Maybe he never talked about it, because no one asked about it. All I see are Veterans telling their stories.

My uncle also survived Vietnam he was special forces when I was young he would tell stories here and there but I was to young to understand or remember he moved to a different state I was watching we were soldiers and my mom said your uncle was there I called him he said sf was at the bottom of the hill engaging the enemy as they where moving up the hill to engage the US it was a cool story I was really interested in talking to him more about his time there he was supposed to move back he was grounded to tell me about his experiences he passed away about a month before he was supposed to move back down 😢 I watch as many of these as I can hoping I could here his name or just understanding what they went through

I went and saw Hamburger Hill with my Vietnam Vet Dad. He didn't talk for 3 days after, and barely at all for a while. He got banged up there real bad in Vietnam.

Loved this story because it helped me piece together my fathers tour in Vietnam 68-69. 1/4 Cav Big red one. When I shared this interview with my father he said his time overlapped one month with Kent Hillhouse. Dad was in all the same areas this man was. the maps are helpful. Dad even now does not talk much about his experiences as a track commander. but little pieces seep out over the years. thanks for this interview. I'd love to hear my father interviewed. Iron Triangle, Michelin rubber Plantation etc. - Thank you.

Wow I’d love to hear what youopops would have to say. When I served we still had 5 men who served in Vietnam. All I new was if we were to go into a war zone I was going to stick around those guys plain and simple. They had the experience and knew how to stay alive. I always looked up to them!

Great hearing more Vietnam stories. My dad was there during Tet with the 25th ID Mech. I remember him saying they always felt a little safer when the tanks were around. Seeing these photos was like going through his album since hus unit went through some of the same places. Enjoyed your account.

Hell yeah. Would be awesome if you got an F-4 Phantom pilot on. My grandfather was shot down and killed shortly after Tet in Laos 03/21/1968. He was due to meet my grandmother in Hawaii for RR in two weeks.

one of my favorite American tanks ever made is the M48, specifically the model used in Vietnam.

My dad was drafted in 1970. He had a sidebar story about the M551 Sheridan. After watching it in action he thought "what kind of idiot designed that thing" as, to start off with, the tank would break apart after firing it's main gun ...once which i thought was hilarious. The amount of money and new technology sunk into a tank that would break after it opened fire was typical height of Vietnam war military hubris. That said after the war the Sheridan was tweaked into being a legitimate light tank.

One of the best yet. Photos tell a story that words can't, especially in terms of explaining terrain. Vietnam is not for the claustrophobic lol Thank you for your service, sirs.
