You guys should do the same to a 2.1l vanagon and see what you can squeeze out of it.

it's so unusual to see a tuner breaking out screwdrivers & timing lights instead of a laptop ... and 8HP , thats more than 10% gain , not bad

I got 115 hp out of my JPM built 2056, next mod is the fully tunable 123 ignition, I'm not chasing horsepower but feel the stock mechanical advance is restricting the motor. I think she will run alot smoother after I get her tuned with this ignition on a rolling road.

As others have asked, I'd be really keen to hear what sizes were used for main, idles, correctors, and emulsifiers in both primary and secondary!

this vid is glorious. stereotypical volkswagen, even after seeing the doctor and being made to run perfectly still needs to be push started. it sounds like its running awesome. love the sound when the pedal goes to the floor and the second throttle plate opens right up!

If it's been rebuilt it should whack out all of 70bhp with the original twin solex's. I remember something about the long inlet manifolds on the weber carb causing the mixture to partially drop out of suspension? It would be cool to see what it puts out on the solex's? I bought twin dellortos for my one back in the day but never fitted them as the now sadly departed steve shaw hadn't built and tested LPG adaptors for the dellorto carbs on a CU. I believe had i fitted them I would have seen north of 75bhp at the flywheel, wooooooh!!

It's good to see a bit of the technical side of looking after a camper. I'm curious if you'd ever look at doing an EV conversion of a camper, perhaps working with someone like Zero EV or one of the other companies in the UK? I'd be interested in seeing that.

check out electric classic cars .. they have converted a few beetles & their current work van is a tesla powered dual cab

coal powered cars...uh
@JamieLovick2 жыл бұрын
@@dave8k9hohnjmdavez57 if you're referring to coal being part of the power generation mix, most public charging stations use green energy, a lot of owners that can do so charge from solar at home, and those who charge over night generally use an EV tariff. Even if an EV is powered 100% off coal, it produces less CO2 than a petrol or diesel vehicle.

that webber carb that is fitted to this bus is and always was a real poor conversion , im amazed he managed to get it to run that well on that carb :)
@petelattimer68084 жыл бұрын
thats odd as although ive never had any real experience on air cooled VWs, ive never known anything run badly on a weber carb. theyre probably the best there is! biggest thing is when you set timing to remember that on early cars like that you might need to retard the timing a little for unleaded fuel.
@CombeValleyCampers4 жыл бұрын
Have we now disproved that?!! It runs brilliantly now

I have this engine and twin solex carbs in my 37k miles T3, and the flat spots are horrific. I'll be fitting my weber 32 36 dfev(same carb as this video) over the next weekend or so. I'm hoping it fixes the flatspots like it has for this T3! It was either rebuild the solex's - which are 41 years old now, or try out this single carb setup - which is like marmite, people hate the mod or swear by it. Guess I'll find out soon enough. Was REALLY hoping to find out what jets you ended up with in this video....

Hi guys very interesting work. I've got a CT which is the 1600 aircooled version. It runs well, but it only has 50 hp. Is it possible to gain some torque and power? Maybe working on the carb which is a single solex. Thanks

I'd suggest speaking to the guys at eurocarb. We did a CT dual carb upgrade a few years ago to great effect

Most of the adjustments were on the carby. Do you think you'd get much of a gain with an injected T3?
@CombeValleyCampers4 жыл бұрын
To improve the performance of an 2.1 injection you would need to seek bigger injectors, and look into intake and exhaust. Maybe even a standalone engine management system

Nice video! Useful baseline for my own recent dyno run of pretty much the exact same van. With an upgraded cam, larger valves and a 7.5:1 CR I got 78hp and 100lb/ft at the wheels with stock fuel injection and stock displacement. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpqahJebnd2XgZo
