Can i just say.....YOU ROCK!!!Im busy with Civil engineering at the University of Pretoria (SA) and everytime my friend and I have no idea what our lecturer said we both just say "StructURE FREEEEE LEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAARNING"

so much better of an explanation than most of the professors out there explaining this stuff - i'm trying to grasp combined loads for the P.E. and I think this is one of the first times it made sense to me so thanks!

Hey, maaan! I was just thinking that why all the professors confuse students minds but most of the youtubers explain this topics better than they do. How can it be possiblee ? whateverr! BAAMM! STRUCTREFFFFFRREH lööninnggg! You da best!

These videos are great, and they've helped me pass my CE 204 class. I do have a slightly unrelated question though Do you think you could upload your work sheets in the discription of the video? I try to follow along, but sometimes you pull back values or equations from previous pages and I have to backtrack in the video to find what you're talking about. It would be easier to work alongside the PDF. Idk if others get this too, its just a helpful thought:)

Thank you for making this subject way more understandable. I'd say "I wish you were my professor," but at this point you practically are :'(

At 8:20, you decide to take the first moment wrt the bottom area. My question is how would you find Q with the upper area?

Amazing video.. in the end; when computing the direction of the stress by moment, did he take the direction of moment wrong,isnt it down to up ? Shouldn't the stress be tension because of the direction of moment?
@stevecooke49747 жыл бұрын
What about if you placed A on the other side? (At 1:15, A is on the right side of the rectangular beam). Im doing similar problem with a circular cross section and shear stress opposite sign on each side, not sure why
@milkcreightronny4 жыл бұрын
You said internal shear is positive upward on the right. I realize it's arbitrary but according to your FBD I think you meant positive upward on the left?!
@franciscoaguero90284 жыл бұрын
Should it be -2knm for the internal torque at A, and the normal strees be positive (tension)

Does V always have to be stated as pointing UP on the negative side of the cut face. I was taught V points down, which would make -V - 2 = 0. So V = -2 (downwards)

hi... it really great video ... i have a question what if the cross section was ( I ) shape ?

Thanks. It would change all the area properties.

Should the cross sectional area be equal to 500 mm * 150 mm (.5 meters = 500 mm) ?
@structurefree9 жыл бұрын
Sannisha Castillo i had it set up as 50 mm * 150 mm. (50 mm = 0.05 m).

Thanks. But why did you use M = +2kN.m instead M = -2kN.m
@lazarx8044 жыл бұрын
The sign is there to denote the direction. You could ignore the sign in the calculations as long as you address the direction in the graph or in the final result.
