I have recently bought a china cabinet which I plan to paint and it has lots of glass. Was going to ask if you tape off the glass but you answered my question. Love how the hutch turned out.
@JamiRayVintage7 жыл бұрын
Sometimes we tape off the glass but this hutch had so many panes of glass it was faster to just scrape it off than it was to tape it off.

I did that back in 1997, but I made it a "dry sink" using crown moulding. When I went to sell my house, a couple said they would buy the house at asking price if I threw in the dry sink. SOLD!

What would happen if you lightly coated the glass with some vegetable oil or Vaseline before painting. I've never tried it before, but it seems like it would aid in cleaning the windows afterward.

Covering the glass with painter's tape and paper would have saved you the time of cleaning off the paint afterwards. Love the dresser repurposing idea.

What kind of primer do you like ? I would have to tape off the glass. I HATE to clean glass !!!
@JamiRayVintage7 жыл бұрын
When we were all through I wish we would have Usually it comes off easy. But thus time it was a pain. I like FCM High Bond that I sell on my website www.jamirayvintage.com or I use Kilz if its not a high traffic item.
@celestefranco90026 жыл бұрын
Hello I love these videos and your work is wonderful. I just hand some questions. How do you know what you need to strip and not strip? I noticed that in some videos you do sand it down, but in this one you didn’t sand the hutch down before adding the primer. Why was that exactly? Thank you!!
@meme75914 жыл бұрын
I would have loved to seen how you guys attached to talk to the dresser..how did you guys do that? What did you use?
@JamiRayVintage4 жыл бұрын
It sits on top but there are metal straps in the back that keep the top from moving around. We usually don’t attach them until we sell it so it’s easier to move. 😊

This is great and easy to do, thank you ! What paint you are using? Can you use Anne Sloan chalk paint with a pistol?
@JamiRayVintage7 жыл бұрын
I use Fairy Chalk Mother and Sweet Pickins Milk Paint Both I sell on my website www.jamirayvintage.com We have only sprayed Annie Sloan once and it ran a lot. So if you spray Annie just be careful and go slow.

LoVE the videos!!! I was wondering what do you use to treat furniture to kill aby bugs? So you dont get an infestation....

We haven’t had s problem with bugs much. If I see spider webs we spray the area with raid.

Hey guys! I can't remember which video you did but it was an earlier video...Jami you were staining cedar with a steel wool pad soaked in vinegar? What type of steel wool did you use and what kind of vinegar? Something else I wanted to throw out there to you and Zeb was about the video where you said some people had mentioned more videos of you alone and or Zeb alone painting...you two are the Dynamic Duo of DIY!!! Keep on doing what you guys are doing! I can honestly tell you that I've been trying to catch up on Netflix and Hulu but can't because I can't stop watching you guys work! You two are great teachers and though I'm new at this, watching you guys has been inspirational and informative...so to say the least, if what you are doing sparks nasty comments, just know you're doing something right.

I'm doing this as well, so I appreciate seeing it done. My problem is the veneer had to be removed from the top of the dresser and it is made of particle board. I have been trying all day to figure out what to put on this so it looks like wood. I'm painting it white so it doesn't have to be stain able. Any ideas?
@JamiRayVintage6 жыл бұрын
You could plank the top with some pine or cedar. Have you seen our video on how to do that?
@pamelaallen65436 жыл бұрын
Do you think that 1/2 pine would look ok with the china cabinet on top? The top and bottom are not rustic looking.

Does the FCM primer or Kilz need to be diluted before using it in the sprayer?
@JamiRayVintage7 жыл бұрын
We use 3 parts paint/primer to one part water when we thin the paint out for spraying. we use a water based kilz primer or FCM high bond.
