sheraarehs not really. I've kept comets, even, at 78° and they do GREAT. grow super fast(not necessarily a good thing, mind you), and look beautiful... They don't NEED heat, and it IS Often stated that they do best under or around 70°(cooler for feeders/comets, a little warmer for fancy types), but, in my experience, they are super hardy cold or warm.

Really? Come on.......black goldfish are actually really hard to find because the black color is very unstable. I have been looking for a black ranchu and found a tiny one but now it is turning orange because it was just it's fry color. Most goldfish will lose their black coloring except for blackmoors, although I had one once that turned orange too. Does everything have to be about race.....they're fish. Fish are fish of different colors, so are dogs, cats, birds etc. People are people too.. of different colors. If we all looked at it that way we wouldn't have all these problems.

glofish aren't modified for our own liking they were made to test environmental hazards and the glo gene is an isolated gene so it is not effecting the animal in any real harmful way. what actually is bringing genetic defects into these fishes lines isn't the added dna but rather inbreding.if it is from a line with no inbreding it is fine and healthy.

+Julian McKay putting nail polish on a snail is perfectly fine, in fact, it's very common. Do a quick google search 🙂 Some owners use nail polish on snails with eroded shells, or snails with cracked shells....breeders make different colored marks with nail polish to tell snails of the same size and color apart, I made this design on this one to keep a closer eye on her for health reasons, (all my other snails in the tank are the same size and color so she blends right in)...as mentioned above, if done correctly it's perfectly safe for the snail, as well as the other tank inhabitants. With my tank I do leave new bags containing fish in my tank for roughly 5-10 minutes and then I add both the water and the fish into my tank. I've done this for ages (I do own a tropical tank which is a 40litre tank) and the fish and the plants are okay, nothing gets damaged. But that's just me and I have been getting fish from a Garden and Aquatics centre that are really good. All I can say is to continue whatever you've been with your tank and follow advice from your local fish store and whatever is right for your tank. Every tank is different and every way to look after tanks is different :D

Hey, I have a betta. My tank is a fair size and he looks content, and I did some research and it said bettas swim less when they are potentionally sick, but he has no spots or redness or symptoms- he usually just drifts or swims or stares at something. I can't afford a vet checkup or anything. Do you think he might be lazy or should I try removing one of his plants to try it out? Any advice helps. Thanks! ❤

Coming from a fish expert you need to dip the bag water to the tank water becose the tank water holds enough algey and to mix it with aquarium water equles happy healthy no problem with the water or fish. Promos! :)

Good tip that you shouldn't mix the bag water with your tank water. For transferring the GloFish from the bag to the tank, another tip to try would be to put the net above a bucket and just pour the fish into the net so you don't have to catch them out of the bag. :)

Xx Laura xX there is different quality water conditioners, different brands, some better than others. And some do more than others. but all fish need it and it is important to use it for a healthy beneficial bacteria colony, unless you do small water changes at a time (20% or less) or you are using well water (but have your water tested for harmful metals first if you are using well water) and no, they dont sell different types for different fish :)

If it turns gold it would PROBABLY be suffering from a disease called velvet. I won't guarantee you though, but it's best you buy some aquarium salt and have a spa for your fish for about 30 minutes. it'll help with the velvet (:
