I've always loved the D&C. In my darkest hours, I've used it to bring peace to my soul. Now with your presentations, I believe I know why I've turned to it instead of the other scriptures. I can relate to the people during the restoration. You have made them come alive, I can relate. When you give us the back story of the people, the feelings they had, the trials they were having, I can relate. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for the years both of you have studied, sacrificed, the hours of preparation, the outstanding way you both come off as humble servants of the Lord. I look forward to each of your lessons with anticipation, because I know I'm going to learn something important that week. Thanks again, you bless us all. Know you are loved.

I look forward each week to your insights into the Doctrine and Covenants. I have learned so much. I have to say when listening to the words taught in this section , I am struggling with government and their continual removal of constitutional rights for the citizens of this country. We are experiencing somewhat what the saints experienced with the lack of their constitutional rights under the law only in different circumstances. I appreciated your instruction that the need to stay focused on Christ needs to be the utmost in our lives while so many wrongs are being pushed on us as being the “right thing to do”. That is why I look forward to your broadcasts - it helps me to stay focused in faith.

Such a great lesson to not focus on all the injustices of the world or our lives but to keep our focus on Christ! I find so much more peace in my life when I do this and I think some of this comes with age. Easier to see the bigger picture! I appreciate your lessons and your great example!

Yes! That C.S. Lewis quote about those who are so focused on spreading Christianity (churchianity?) that they lose sight of Christ, or those who organize and run charities, but don’t care about the poor. What irony there is in that! And we see it throughout history and in current times. It is one of the biggest reasons why we lose people from church fellowship. We need to understand and live the basics of what we believe and teach.

It seems as I have been studying & listen to the lessons that the way The Lord speaks to us changes as we build Temple's and go on missions etc. The more the Church grows - the more people are Baptized and Confermed, taking the Sacrament going to The Temple - getting on The Covenant path, striving to understand & keep the Commandments - there is a change in the way The Lord communicates with us. In the early days of the Church - no one was able to be Baptized correctly, no Presthood authority, no gift of The Holy Ghost or Eternal Marriages etc. So much to do to get things started. It was built from nearly a dead stop to meaningful vigorous action. Now that we are in motion and on the Covenant path - it has changed - thank Heaven.

I think we can all agree if Joseph Smith and those who helped organizing the church had as much time as Moses to organize things it would probably be more black-and-white and more precise. I'm just glad they organized and printed those papers of the Doctrine and Covenants without everybody dying. That is a miracle all by itself. I am still grateful for Joseph Smith and the rest organizing the church!

I meant 121-123! My story has been similar to Lisa‘s. We ended up adopting three children who have struggled greatly in their lives and are in active but we have been sealed in the temple and will not give up! Your dad was in the first stake presidency I had when I moved to Minnesota and we sang together and work together and I have a great love for him as we served in the temple! I truly appreciated Lisa‘s perspective and her willingness to share her difficult experiences that you’ve both experience together as a couple and the testimonies that have grown out of that struggle. Thank you Cindy and Jim Curtis

I love having you two as my teachers. Thank you for a very insightful and profound lesson. Gosh, there were so many amazing points. I have come to know the Saviour more this year through CFM and D and C. Learning about the Saviour is like having a well that never runs dry. There are many times I just shake my head and smile. In my communications I tell the Lord how amazed I am at what I have just learnt about him. I am more comfortable approaching him. I do feel and hear him more, even on days when I am super tired and can't be bothered. Regardless of what is going on in the world today, I am looking forward to Christmas. I am looking forward to remembering and celebrating the birth of someone who means everything to me. I am looking forward to re-hearing the stories, and re reading the words of the Prophets. The difficult times for me are nothing when I know the Saviour is on the other side of that ♥️.

I just looked up the words "thresh" and "thrash" in the 1828 Webster's Dictionary. Apparently, the words meant exactly the same thing back then. After all, the way wheat was "threshed" was to beat it with a flail to separate the wheat kernels from the stalks. There may have been a difference in local pronunciations that led to the different words, and the two words may have taken on more specific separate meanings over the years.

"He shall command the great deep, and it shall be driven back into the north countries, and the islands shall become one land;" (D&C 133: 23) During an ice age the waters of the ocean are caught up in polar ice caps and glaciers. That lowers ocean levels and continental shelves become dry land and extend beyond their normal boundaries. Islands become connected as one land. D&C 133:23 is a perfect description of an ice age.

Interesting how we all like different art representations of Christ. Typically we tend to like that which more closely approximates our ethnicity. We collect nativities from around the world and each society depicts it according to their ethnic makeup. The upcoming Christ in the Book of Mormon videos is part Maori and is the first one with brown eyes. I wonder how people will react to that.

In regards as to what Jesus Christ physically looks like, I was once told by a person that he had all the races in his countenance. His nose was this and his mouth that and eyes something else again etc. I answered her by putting my hand on the scriptures and pointing out he looks like THIS.

I’m not sure how to ask this question. Throughout the year there have been little snippets of a movie for example, Joseph Smith taking Emma for a ride; they’re in Carthage Jail and the song is being sung when the murders come and kill Joseph and Hiram; when Joseph is translating the Bible.; When they’re at the Whitmore farm and the miracle of the field being plowed during the night etc. etc. etc. can anyone tell me what the name of that movie is and where I can find it?

Hi Carol! We primarily use two sources for those video clips, and they are the Church's movie: Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration, and the PBS Documentary: American Prophet (2017).

They are replicas of the death masks that were made of Joseph and Hyrum Smith after their martyrdom. I also find them distracting and a little disrespectful to them
