While studying this past week what stood out to my heart the most was Christ's love and concern for his mother. I wept as I read and felt, as a mom myself, just what that must have felt like for Mary. One of his last acts was in entrusting the care of his mother. Thank you for sharing your insights and helping to expand my knowledge as I study, ponder, pray, listen, and feel the Spirit guiding my efforts. 💞

Important to remember that while Christ fulfilled his earthly ministry he is not done with his assignment. That will not come until the culmination of the Millennium, when he will present to the Father all the records and all the work that has been performed. While the work and the glory of the Father is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man, it is Christ who is responsible for delivering the report of that effort. It is only through his efforts that it becomes possible. He started the effort but with our help, he must see that it is finished.

I teach 6,7& 8 year olds in Primary, and I help the kids relate by comparing bullies to the people who persecuted Jesus. All of the times I have been bullied help me understand just a small part of what Jesus suffered. I am thankful Jesus truly can empathize with me when times are difficult, it helps me get through it. I can not ever say "why me" because why should I be spared suffering if Jesus suffered like he did. Why would Heavenly Father favor Me more than Jesus? He wouldn't. It hurts to hear of the betrayal Jesus went through and how people could torture him. It totally breaks my heart. I am personally touched to know that he has taken time to visit my son when he was a toddler going through some difficult trials several years ago.

I love the thought of who would stand as a witness, but it makes me more determined to stand as a witness now in my own life. How has the Savior changed my life and saved me in my struggle? How can I be a better witness in sharing that today? Such good food for thought.

Thank you for generously gifting into my most precious treasure trove: my testimony, spiritual knowledge and divine identity. Thank you because I listen to your videos every night as I’m falling asleep. It soothes my soul from the cares of the day. I really look forward to listening to your videos every night - even if it’s the same video seven nights over. 😁 It is literally like reading the scriptures in that it seems like no matter how many times I listen to your videos, I always find something new or revelatory “just in time.” Your videos ground me into what’s really meaningful. Thank you!!

After watching, listening, and studying this; I want to wear a cross! I know that in our religion we don't "dwell" on the cross, but it is definitely an integral part of my love for Jesus Christ. He died for me! He suffered and died. I need to always remember that.....

It is so wonderful that you give up your time and your gifts to help the rest of us better understand the treasures of the Scriptures. This lesson really hit me in the heart of the greatest gift given to us all. I now understand why and how we can become new creatures. It is been a struggle for me to study the lessons however I have felt change inside me just little baby steps but there are changes happening. Thank you again for you example of living the Gospel in your sincere humble way❤️💖💐

As I pondered the question you asked... who would I be? A thought came to me. There were probably those in the the crowd who just watched... who didn't do anything... who didn't take His cross. Maybe even those who had seen miracles in their lives... and still choose to do nothing thinking perhaps... well, I didn't spit or mock... this is probably out of fear... of the Roman Centenarians or the Jewish leadership or their social culture. Much like we might choose today. It take courage to 'take His cross'... to take His side!

"It is finished," also hearkens back to the Passover. There are 4 cups that are drunk during the Passover: 1. Cup of Sanctification, 2. Cup of Plagues or Deliverance, 3. Cup of Blessing or Remembrance and 4. Cup of Completion. Jesus did not drink of the fourth cup during the Last Supper. Many scholars say that the 4th cup was "drunk" or partaken in the Gethsemane and that is why he said, " . . . Let this cup pass from me." And He finished the cup on the cross when He uttered, "It is finished (or completed.)" Some say the fourth cup will not be partaken of until the Second Coming. I think it's both--a mortal completion and an eternal completion.

Quick question, I think at one point it is said that the Savior isn’t very far off the ground on the cross, even eye level, but then it is said that in order to get the vinegar up to the Savior, it was put on hyssop to get it up to Him. Can you please help me understand why that would be, if he was eye level with the crowd?

I have often wondered why nobody in the crowd spoke up for Jesus? Was it fear of being persecuted themselves? Where were the 11 Apostles? They must have been there because they wrote what happened. Did Jesus instruct them not to say or do anything? Questions we will probably never know the answer to.

Why is everything around the number 3? Three years of ministry, He asks Peter 3 times if he loves Him-then feed his sheep, Peter denies Him 3 times, He says that he can build the temple in 3 days, 3 crosses, 3 days before the resurrection, the Godhead, etc.

I believe 3 also has symbolism in Jewish cutler/theology but I’d love to know more about the symbolic meaning of someone is familiar with it
@amberlena79

Yes, so many 3s associated with Christ! If you look at sacred geometry it is very symbolic. Greek mathematicians considered 1 and 2 the parent of all numbers and 3 is their first, or eldest "offspring". The triangle is the shape associated with the number 3 and it is the strongest shape - it is used in all forms of construction because it adds strength to the whole. The triangle also points out a direction, like a compass. On the third day or creation, the sun Moon and stars were set in their proper place to bring light to the world. The third article of faith is about Christ and the atonement. There are so many instances of 3s in Christ's life, but also in the old testament too (point to Christ who would come).

I was taught there was also a "saddle" on the cross that pointed up into the (sorry for the graphic) scrotum area that would be extremely painful which would force the crucified to push up off their feet and rely on their arms to support their body's weight.

The reality is that there were people that offered testimony before Pilate, but in order for Heavenly Fathers plan, the perfect plan to take place He, Jesus has to fulfill the plan by being noted as being guilty and suffering through the Atonement.

Sometimes I wonder about these podcasts. I have never heard in conference to go to another source or someone else's presentation and interpretation of the come follow me program. I feel the shift in the church...and from the Lord...is to study it out for ourselves...not have someone do it for us. The come follow me program is geared for a two way conversation...even if alone...that two way is with the Holy Ghost...we need to have our own testimony....right? We have gospel doctrine classes for a purpose. I feel stuff like this is going backwards from the intent of the new program. It's to dig and to ponder about before using someone to study for you.

Gail McIntosh I used to feel the same way about this additional teaching. Since I have started watching Don’t miss this I have change my tune 180 degrees. I don’t skip the personal study or the Come Follow Me program but I use Don’t Miss this as a supplement to the core curriculum. It takes me 4-5 hours a week to get through a lesson and then be ready to have a discussion with my family. Don’t Miss This is helping me catch important doctrine and helps me to see things from different perspectives. It really does help me to not miss things that I would be missing with only my personal insights. This new curriculum has been life changing for me and although I thought I knew the Savior before I am now realizing there is always so much more to learn as my relationship with him continues to deepen because I am coming to Know Him more and more as I learn of Him. Big Thank You to Emily and Dave for sharing their talent of teaching in such a generous way. I can’t imagine the time and effort that have been put into this production.

Some of us are in callings that we might not get the extra discussion in Sunday school. Learning insights to help look at things a bit differently is not a bad thing. If it's not for you, don't watch it, I'm glad for you that you don't need it. But some of us do.
