In my life the person who wronged me didn't ask forgiveness but Jesus sent the letter to my heart and I have been blessed by forgiving and moving forward. Forgiveness is healing balm to the innocent victim of sin.

I highly suggest listening to the recent insight from Sistas In Zion regarding this story of Onesimus and Philemon. Onesimus was a slave of Philemon’s. He ran away, he freed himself. The concept that Philemon was the one needing to forgive is possibly the wrong take. Paul was indeed offering Philemon a chance to accept Onesimus as his brother and to basically create equality where that once did not exist. Onesimus was given an enormous challenge of going back to his once oppressor whom he freed himself from. Philemon was that one who needed to seek forgiveness. There is much depth to this story and I love how you touch on grace and how Paul appeals to Philemon and seems to understand the real history of their relationship. I think we need to bring more awareness to the slave issue and not make assumptions that Onesimus had stolen something or was in the wrong because he ran away. I have loved hearing your take on this but I’ve also found the take from our saints of color to be of utmost importance on this part of scripture.

Such a wonderful description of this weeks study, Love you guys. This is the quote that came to mind when I was listening to the last part "when you learn how to sit at the table with your Judas, then you understand the Love of Jesus Christ" xx

Starting at about minute 22, regarding Philemon 1, the Spirit spoke to me and let me know this was especially for our family, and an upcoming visit from an estranged family member...thank you.

As I finished with Thessalonians I hated to say goodbye. It's as if I have come to know these people through my studying. I had to move on to this lesson in order to be prepared to teach my grandchildren next Monday. Ten of them come and w sit around the table after the chaos of dinner and study together. Between this and Redheaded Hostess my heart is so full of things to share it is seriously difficult to choose what is the most needful for them at this time. Thank you for opening up so much of the New Testament to me and through me to my precious grandchildren!

Because you are so good at what you do here, and that the Spirit is very strong with you both, we learn far more with the new CFM compared to the hour in church that it is simply amazing reading and understanding scripture and the outline now. Thank you for your service. God bless you and your families.

I LOVE your challenge at the end. It is the story of Christ's love. Victor Hugo writes this story in Les Misérables. Tears flow every time I hear or read the Bishop call Jean Valjean, "Brother." There is no hurt that is worth holding on to which would supplant the pure love that comes after heartfelt forgiveness.

Thank you for this wonderful video and all your other videos! As an adult it's so wonderful to be able to feel like I am in seminary, or institute again, and have the scriptures opened up to me in such a beautiful way! Thank you both for sharing your gifts with us, so that we can all profit!

My husband said he knows the feeling that you mentioned the men in prison talk about. Thanks for acknowledging the pains and fears and doubts of both sides of situations like that in a sensitive way. This video was special to me because I was not left feeling like less of a Christian for being human, hurting, and feeling so stretched on my forgiving journey. And he was also edified and represented.

Thank you so much for reading that letter from Christ and also mentioning boundaries! It's so hard to forgive when someone isn't sorry, and they are detrimental to have in our lives currently. I pray that I can forgive and still enjoy the safety of the loving boundaries set, and I will highlight that scripture!

Fabulous as always. Our teacher said she prayed and forgave her brother who doesn't speak to the family and they don't know why but she felt the peace so strongly afterwards and still does not understand the why he doesn't have anything to do with them.

I also thought about 1 Timothy 4:14,"neglect not the gift that is in thee". This could be the gift of the Holy Ghost - seek revelation, seek guidance and then act.

Fun fact Onesimus means profitable, beneficial. As Paul is speaking he seems to be playing off of his name. When he ran away, in a sense he became not himself. Now restored by Christ he is again Onesimus, profitable.

hmm...do you think he is possibly referring to our Patriarchal Blessings???... "the gift that was given to you by prophecy", and "laying on of hands"?! (Oh HA! I wrote this JUST BEFORE she said that!!!! Always a good feeling to know you're in tune and on track!!!) 'And about your wonderful breakdown of this: Sometimes, it takes the "act of", like "acting as though", stepping forward or in faith, to get the forgiveness process started. I know this one well.... thank you Paul, Y'all, and Jesus Christ.
